Power Cord Flavors

Tplavas, I am delighted you will be introducing your own line of PCs soon, after considerable audition of the competition. In addition to what TVAD already correctly pointed out, a lot of us are conducting PCs comparison tests in very controlled environments, mostly on our own systems, or on multiple well-known systems, with our own music selections, and often have the opportunity of letting new PCs settle in for weeks at a time before expressing a firm opinion. As such, we are likely also somewhat qualified to express our findings publicly.

Tvad, I own many power cords which lead me to the conclusion that they all carried a certain sonic colour to which we preferred, weather they are in "warm and full bodied" or "Neutral, clear and extended". I was simply saying that when we apply certain power cords to the system, we add a different sonic colour to the sound and pay less attention to what the artists want us to hear.

My apologies if you found offensive as I responded toward a open discussion thread with an interesting topic related to power cord and adding a difference perspective to the topic.

I agree about adding color, or rather sculpting the sound to what he prefer. Certainly, if that's all we do, then our concentration on the music suffers. However, I'd like to think that shaping the sound of a system is a worthy goal that ultimately leads to heightened enjoyment of the music. It's good to keep the music as the primary focus, though.

I agree with your statements. I guess I should try to be more specific. While certain pc's do certainly have a 'sound' that can be expected almost regardless of the system or components you attach them to; finding that 'rightness' that is almost transformative (the kind that generates raves for a certain pc), can be very difficult. Certain pc's can almost be described without being heard at all, based on an accurate description of gauge, conductor type and number, and length. But while a pc's 'coloration' may sound terrific with lower-powered tubes, it may be downright horrid with higher-powered solid-state. That doesn't make it good or bad IMO, just designed for a specific ac requirement.
One of the many things I'm struggling with in introducing my own line of pc's, is how to accurately market the cables to those people who have systems that will benefit the most from them. I certainly am not going to be one of those cable makers that claims their pc's sound great on 'anything'. That's nonsense, IMO. And I certainly don't want tons of bad reviews based on folks plugging them into systems that are nothing like the systems I'm designing them for.
But, then again, no guts, no glory, eh?
