Amazing Album Sides

There are amazing album sides that rock and swing from the first song through the last. The albums they come from are usually outstanding, but one side seems to get played over and over.

I'm going to start with a somewhat obscure and less obvious choice...Talking Heads' "Remain In Light" Side 1: "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)", "Crosseyed and Painless", "The Great Curve".

Which one does it for you?

Nice job reviving this one, Albert, so I'll go with one of your favorite bands:

Side two of Eels' "Daises of the Galaxy". Whiile you can make a case for a bunch of Eels/M. O. Everitt sides, I think this is my favorite Great from start to finish IMHO.

From the mid '60s thru mid 70s, a bunch of bands got hot and produced a string of great side; Beatles, Stones, Zep, and a few other already mentioned are good examples. Given my own fixation with them, I also gotta mention the 8 side streak that Fleetwood Mac produced from their Eponymous LP thru Tusk.

So, I'll take some liberties and extend the thread to include consecutive sides of great music. I'd guess that many folks would add Dylan, CSNY, and The Who to the list. The prog rock runs from Yes and Genesis, the punk run from The Clash, and a bunch of other genre specific stuff probably deserves mention, too.

However, one sleeper candidate for "Mother of All Hot Streaks" was Creedence Clearwater's 10 side streak in the 24 month period starting in July, 1968:

CCR
Bayou Country
Green River
Willy and the Poor Boys
Cosmo's Factory

I don't think there's a weak side in the bunch. Im sure you can make a case for others, but this was all within 2 years. IMO, this be the most prolific run in rock n roll history.
I've listened to side one of "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" (Miles Davis) a million times but have hardly played the other side. With John McLaughlin's "My Goal's Beyond" the side with the all-guitar tracks gets all the play-- I rarely, if ever, listen to the side with the group playing.
Martyk1, I agree with your assessment of CCR, which is my all time favorite group.
As talented as John Fogerty is he still can't match that quality decades later.

Agree, I frequently play "Electro Shock Blues" the LP release just before Daises. The side with "3 Speed" is great. I frequently hear guests chuckle upon hearing the lyrics of "Hospital Food."
Great thread!!! All above mentioned are superb. I might add:
Nektar-Remember The Future
Pink Floyd-Wish You Were Here
Supertramp-Crisis What Crisis? Side 1
Elton John-Tumbleweed Connection Side 2
Genesis-Foxtrot
Jethro Tull-Thick As A Brick Side 1 (so where the hell was Biggles, when you needed him last Saturday?)
Rush-Moving Pictures
Moody Blues-A Question Of Balance
