living by the sea

Hi,I believe living close to the ocean can play havoc with your stereo. The salt oxidizes everything.I would like your thoughts on this thanks.I put this on another forum to reach as many people as possible. It will be a shame if I can't bring my good stereo to my retirement home. Thanks again

Not to mention seismic vibration from the action of waves landing on the shore.
Misternice,
Take your stereo system with you! Use it and enjoy at as much as you can. You might even want to share your love for music with some new friends at your new home. Don't worry about damaging it, which I doubt you will, and enjoy it to the fullest!
Sea air is corrosive. Just do what you can to provide a good climate indoors and things will work out as best as possible. Maybe start with gear that is not too costly to replace if needed and see how it goes. Live and learn.
Misternice-

do you live by fresh water or salt water bodies? All sea air is corrosive. Salt air is the worst. Also, use of air-conditioning will play a part as well. Start w/ lower-priced gear and evaluate prior to moving your more pricey gear to your home by the sea. Happy Listening!
I have been living by the sea for 8 years. Corrosion has been a minor problem. Keeping connections clean and air con regulated is a must.
