New Orleans Jazz LPs

Any suggestions on some great New Orleans Jazz LPs?

I don't mean to sound like I am splitting hairs, but please define what you mean by "New Orleans jazz". You can find virtually every type of music -- not just jazz -- in N.O., so you need to be more specific in your request.

I assume that by "N.O. jazz", you mean traditional jazz of the type that developed in N.O., sometimes called "Dixieland". If that is NOT what you are asking about, please define what kind of music you mean.
Sd's right. New Orleans jazz could be anything from Louis Armstrong to the Neville Brothers to Queen Ida & The Bon Temps Zydeco Band.

Never the less, here's a few of my favorites:

Dr. John—Going Back To New Orleans
The Neville Brothers—Yellow Moon
Louie Armstrong—Plays W.C. Handy & Satch Plays Fats
Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Vols. 1 & 2
My wife ordered me some records from Music Direct last Christmas and she told the guy I liked New Orleans Jazz and he told my wife he had some great stuff for $5/album. My wife thought, hey, $5, new vinyl, I'll take a chance. I have really enjoyed them. The performances are good, the sound good and the vinyl quiet for not being 180gr.

They are:

The Orphan Newsboys; Laughing at Life on Stomp Off Records
S.O.S 1225

Dick Sudhalter&Connie Jones and their Whoopee Makers; Get Out and Get under the Moon. Stomp Off Records, S.O.S. 1207

Marty Grosz & Keith Ingham and their Paswonky Serenades; Unsaturated Fats (Fats Waller tunes)My favorite. Stomp Off Records, S.O.S. 1214.

Check them out if they are still available...for $5 bucks you can't beat them.

Indeed you are right! I should have been more specific - I meant Dixieland Jazz. I love this stuff and its uplifting sound. Any suggestions?
