Germans get the worst of it because they're such crappy tippers. If someone has a German accent in your party, they'll put 20% tip on and dare you to decrease it, even for crappy, east Florida service.
It sounds like Grisslehamn has the hang of it anyways, and Scandahoovians have a very good way of fading into the background - best chameleons I've seen when traveling. My Danish buddies just say they're from New Jersey when someone asks, and no one seems to question it.

I didn't know that muggers, robbers and thieves deserved tips. That's what i was referring to in my post, not being hassled or blown off by waiters and waitresses.

As to German's being "poor tippers", their culture / pay rates in the customer service industry are different than what we have here in the States. Until they can acclimate to those differences, they are doing what is considered "normal" in their culture / society. Sean
