Subwoofer Connections

I have a Sunfire HRS-8 sub. My integrated amp does not have a subwoofer out, so my manual says I should connect my CD player outs to the line-level inputs of the sub; then, connect the high pass outputs of the sub to the inputs of the integrated amp.

My question is whether I should use subwoofer cables or normal interconnects for both connections. The subwoofer cables say they are for low frequency; but would using these mean I would be getting lower quality at the higher frequencies?

This makes no sense unless your CD player has a preamp that you are using to control the volume. Does your integrated amp have a preamp output? It would be helpful to list the integrated amp and CD player.
Sorry, I was trying to simplify. I use a Cambridge 851C CD/DAC/Digital preamp (as a CD player or to the digital input from my computer) and a Cary CAD 300SEI integrated amp. Sunfire manual says go from the preamp outputs to the sub line-inputs and then from the sub's high-pass outputs to the inputs of the integrated amp.
