Need advice on amp to drive Vandersteen 2Cs

Gurus,

I need some advice from you pros. Currently I have Vandersteen 2C driven by Denon POA 2400 (200 x 2)which is fed by a B&K MC 101 Preamp. I listen to mostly vinyl.

I'm in a dilemma whether this is the best I can do for Vandersteens or I can make them sing better. I like my current set-up but thinking to better it. I have been watching the DK Design VS-1 MKII integrateds go for about a grand.

I'm split between going for an integrated vs upgrading my amp and/or preamp.

Any suggestions?

Rogue Cronus has a phono stage. 55wpc.

Thanks Tvad, but 55 wpc is rather too low for Vandersteen 2Cs, don't you think?

It depends on the size of your room and the volume you require. Vandersteen
recommends a minimum of 40 wpc.

From what I have read on this thread, there's nothing even remotely
approaching a consensus recommendation for a tube amp to drive these
speakers.

In fact, there are many suggestions for solid state amps including models
from McCormack, Classe, Odyssey, Belles, and TAD.

I agree that there are a lot of recommendations for SS amps. But but for 2C only I see at least 3 recommendations for tube amps. Just wanted to get more inputs on tube amps, thats all.

Here's another solid state suggestion: Plinius 8200 MK I with phono.

John Marks of Stereophile places it on his "Tomorrow's Classics" list.
