I would say the need for longevity far outweighs the other problems.
As for finding a pair of rare old amps worth buying... Tough call.
I personally went with the need to have 20 years peace of mind and bought bryston 4B-SST2 amp after hearing one at the dealer over several hours. iT was not my first thought in an amp. but it did not overheat the areas like a Pass amp, and it sounded great (and I am still happy with it totally) then the 20 year warranty is the icing on the cake.
So I HAVEe an amp which sounds great and if anything goes wrong within 20 years it will be FREE to get repaired.
Worked for me.
