5Z4 half-wave rectifiers replacement suggestion

I have Hyperion HT 88 power amps and one of the rectifiers started to have blue sparks inside when I turn on the amp. I have a feeling it started to go hence the question.

What can I buy as a replacement for 5Z4 half-wave rectifiers ? There seems to be number of options but all of them have some additional letters after 5Z4 ... which is very confusing.

Can anyone explain what are the options as far as the replacement goes ?

Thanks,

I believe the 5Z4 is a full wave rectifier and you can use a 5Z4GT if you wish. Usually the letters at the end indicate updated version, rugged version, glass envelope size and/or metal can vs. glass.
Ask on Aujdio Asylum's Tube Asylum you might get more answers. I also think it is a full rectifier but I don't use rectifiers so I am not sure.
Yes, the 5Z4 is a full wave rectifier.

According to an older Sams Tube Substitution Handbook I have, the following can be substituted for it:

5Z4G, 5Z4GT, 5Z4GT/G, 5Z4MG, 5AR4, 5CG4, 5V4G, 5V4GA, 5V4GY.

A 5z4 is the same as the 5y3 gt , or 6101
Going up to s 5ar4 gz-30 requires much more power
You could put a 5z4 in a 5ar4 slot. It may work putting a 5ar4 in a 5z4
Slot But it may gave very short life. The Bendix 6106 is very rugged
And the best bass in this size rectifier with great control.. If any doubts ask the MFG.
