It appears to be taking advantage of the cutting edge engineering technology that's available.
Unless you know something you haven't disclosed the only thing cynical appears to be your post.

Wow, if all you have to do is push a button and out pops a tonearm, why do you have to wait three more weeks?

Could VPI be selling these arms faster than they can push the button??

What I find interesting is that it looks more or less the same as the existing arms rather than anything different that might imply a fresh look at the design in the light of a new manufacturing method.
