Pat Metheny Fans, Great Suggestions Please ??

Hello,

I have Secret Story, We Live Here and Imaginary Day.

I know his styles vary from album to album, but I'm looking for some stuff that sounds great cranked-up or low-level, beautiful, involving and long-term (asking a lot)

The 30-60 second samples give a fraction of say, what a 14 minute song has, so it's kinda difficult to get a handle on the changing improvs.

I did like what I "managed" to hear from Pat Metheny Group with Mays, Egan and Gottlieb "San Lorenzo"

"... especially from the early 80's and 90's are lightweight in the bass.." ??? surely then you have not heard the ecm LP's, the german LP pressings are better than the u.s. pressings, but bass is exceptional (for example "Offramp" and "Wichita"; so is imaging, sense of space and detail. Perhaps something happened in the cd medium.
Xiekitchen,
You are correct that I have not heard an ecm LP as I do not own a single LP. My comments are all based on CD's and that's all I have in my music collection.
I had "Offramp" on vinyl until I sold all my LPs in the early 90s. Big mistake. The "Offramp" LP was one of the best I ever heard.

I now own "Offramp" on CD (a re-master, I think). It actually sounds very good, but it lacks the magic of the LP.
Parallel Realities: Live!!!

A great live fusion super group gig featuring DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny!!!

Great recording
Found a mint vinyl copy of "80/81" in a local record store today. I had originally purchased this LP when it was released, and I sold it with my collection about 15 years ago.

Wow, what a great set of music from these guys!

Outstanding sound as well.

Happy to have re-acquired it.
