The better aftermarket plugs have wider/stronger metal connection parts. The solid connection is part of the improved performance of the product. The only downside is if you are using regular recepticles and later put a 'normal' (read that as cheap) plug into that recepticle the connection may be too loose because the internal parts have been pushed farther apart from the upmarket plug. But the plug does seem to be the way the makers intend! A good tight fit and better contact.
Elizabeth, U are right but I also had the furutech FP-2R. It is still tight but not as tight as the Oyaide. Every time I pull the power cord out I am scare the little screw that is holding the receptacle will come loose too.
