Nearly ALL manufactureres now use an A/C synchro motor. The line can sag for a million reasons, and every sag causes problems with a DC motor. The tiny fluctuation in the A/C frequency is nothing compared to typical voltage sag and spikes.
So the motor of choice for 99% plus turntables is a AC synch.
If you have a fabulous motor which is DC and can build a proper controller with totally rock steady DC.. then no problem. otherwise the AC is the ony way to go.
