Best color s to paint dedicated listening room

Color effects mood and temperament. There are many studies to this effect. Search them out and pick colors to suite your music listening mood.

Avoid cool colors...green, blue.

Consider warm colors...deep reds, cranberry, eggplant...and dark tones. I personally find a dark room the most conducive to listening and getting lost in the music.

Lighting is as important as paint.

Or, play it safe with earth tones, but I'd still prefer deeper colors.

BTW, I don't entirely practice what I preach, since our living room doubles as our listening room. Our walls are faux finished to look like antiqued glodenrod. We do, however have deep cranberry red drapes and halogen lighting that can be dimmed quite low.

How dedicated is this room to listening? If there is any chance that the room may double as a video room, then color can be significant and color recomendations may become quite specific.

Agree with Unsound. Muted, non-reactive colors which don't reflect color back on the screen are best if the dedicated room will also be used for home theater.

Paint it "Auric Illuminator Green"....just the edges of the room though. You will get sonic improvements to write home about. Make sure to put a carpet down too; all those dropping jaws can really mark up a hardwood floor finish.
