Do you say Thank You?


I'd like to know the experience of Audiogoners who have emailed members privately for information or advice. If you receive a careful and considered reply to your question, do you acknowledge the reply with a thank you? I try to do so. It's proper etiquette, isn't it?

My experience is that more than half do not.

Why do you suppose that is?

Zaikes, I let my ads them run their course after tagging the item Sold because I think it's useful information for the market, as it were. As someone who regularly monitors various products in the classifieds, I like to see that something has sold and not just disappeared.

Good question. I usually keep the ad alive until the buyer has received the item and we both give each other the proper( hopefully positive) feedback to finalize the deal. Then I usually cancel the ad. There's always that small chance that the item might have an issue that would cause him to either back out of the deal or return the item. By keeping the ad alive to that point, I can either cancel it or fix the issue and re-list the item. Very rare, but stuff happens.
I do dislike it when sellers don't add "sold" to their title line, so that you have to actually click on the listing before learning this.
I thought people wouldn't want be bothered by private e-mails. I try to keep most Audiogon corespondence on Audiogon. I hope it's not considered rude or lazy, but the few times I have requested help, I always leave with; "as always thanks in advance".
