| IERC Tube shields? If these are the old tube shields for military gear, I tried them on my preamp and phono stage last year. The ones I tried were very firm fitting, and had to be pressed on the (6922) tube with some force, compared to tube sox.On my equipment the s... | |
| My first and last DIY project A really beautiful job Eldragon! I hope you will post comments in the weeks ahead as to how these sound when broken in. Two questions, if you had it to do over again would you? And would you make any changes from the product we see today?I ask onl... | |
| How Do you hide/camouflage your rats nest? This one is easy. Just buy large enough speakers where the mono amps, interconnect and power cables are hidden behind them. This of course does NOT work if the wife hates the appearance of the speakers. Luckily not an issue with my better half. | |
| Best Amp for under 10K? I agree with Kelton on the Manley and Wolcotts. I use the Wolcotts myself and having owned amps up to $30K, the Presence (Wolcott) is one of the few bargains in high end audio. | |
| Contact Cleaner Fatparrot, I think that oxygen in the air does most of the damage although excess moisture certainly does not help. What all of these products do is remove the layer of oxidized material, ( which is no longer the same metal chemically ), so that c... | |
| What do you do when the kids come along? I too agree with Hdm's advice. Although my sons bedroom is next to my audio system, I continued to play music as though he never came along. Now that he is 16 (as of 5 days ago) we often listen together. I had to eject a new CD from my computer tha... | |
| Review: 2 new releases from Mapleshade Great review Sd. I would buy the D'Angelo recording based solely on your review and the incredible line up of artists. Although it has nothing to do with your post directly, I wonder what your take is on "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" Certainly this... | |
| Contact Cleaner In response to the questions about shark liver oil, supposedly the Japanese are the masters at making the version that works for audio. The tests I have conducted show no signs of mucking up or changing consistency over time. Eventually all audio ... | |
| Contact Cleaner I've used shark liver oil a lot. In fact it is it is one of the original contact enhancements and the treatment that I cannot give up in tests against Caig Gold. For those who think Psychicanimal and I are having a laugh at your expense, the much t... | |
| How come that when most audiophiles Within my own post is the following: "it listed ideal standards for that single driver system."The topic as posted by Twl is on the subject of single driver systems. My post addresses that subject much the same as an opinion as to the best CD play... | |
| Best Audio AND Video stores in Dallas/FW? Stereo East, just North of LBJ (635 Freeway) on Preston Road. Two salesman and the owner are friends of mine, and they have a very nice set up, especially for video. | |
| Contact Cleaner Fatparrot, if Eastman Kodak still manufactures their film cleaner, the formula contains (among other things) 111 trichlorethylene. This is the business end of many designer cleaners. The Kodak product is a few bucks for a four ounce bottle. My best... | |
| How come that when most audiophiles No doubt, and I am pleased that you found happiness with your system. The important thing is finding the special combination of equipment and speakers that allows you to listen to the music without constantly thinking about how the system "sounds"... | |
| Deciding on the right huge speaker Already some great responses here. I agree with Kirk on the JM Lab and Soundlab, and with Chazzbo on the Maggie MG 20's. I would add (used) Audio Artistry Beethoven, I think they are no longer made, but were EXCELLENT.Last CES I heard a Dutch spea... | |
| How come that when most audiophiles Here is an excerpt from Twl, the creator of this post.Notice the specs only show freq. Response, and nothing about phase non-linearity induced by multiple crossover components. This seems to be a non-linearity in system philosophy where short sign... |
