JM Labs Electra 946 lack of high-end detail
Sounds to me like there is a problem with your Electras. My 946s have a very detailed midrange and treble. Infact I have even heard complaints about the Electras being too detailed and bright sounding. I find my 946 Electras to sound neutral altho...
Audioprism CD Blacklight mat?
Thanks for the response. Another thing I was also concerned about is whether adding a CD mat would shorten the life of the transport motor due to spinning extra weight. This would kind of be like spinning two CDs at a time instead of one.
New Direction-JM Lab Diva, Revel Studio or Sophia?
Excellent choice.
New Direction-JM Lab Diva, Revel Studio or Sophia?
I have not heard the Revel or Sophias but am familiar with the sound of other Wilson speakers but I have to agree with Aball's comments above. I also own JM Lab speakers and am quite familiar with and have heard most of their models. They do provi...
Which Threshold s are best?
I own an original S350e. Pretty much all Threshold amps are great sounding especially the S and SA series, last of the Nelson Pass designs. I would assume that the new Chinese reissue of the S350e should sound as good as the originals if the same ...
Threshold S/500 II power cord suggestions?
I am using a magic cord power cable from Signal Cable on my Threshold S350e with good results. Inexpensive and maybe worth a try.
B&W or JM labs
Yeah the B&Ws do need a lot of power but funny thing is I HAVE heard the B&W Nau 801s driven by the McIntosh 1200 watt monos and was still not terribly impressed with their performance but I guess it all boils down to personal preference.
Threshold amps
I have one of the original S350e power amps and it is a great amp. Not sure about the new Chinese reissue. I guess if they use the same original componens it should be as good as the original although having it now made in China seems to be cheape...
JM Labs 927 Be vs Sonus Faber GPH also the 937BE
I am not familiar with Sonus Faber speakers BUT am very familiar with JM Lab and currently own a pair of 946 Electras and have heard pretty much the whole JM Lab line. I find the 946 Electras to be a well balanced, full sounding speaker without be...
B&W or JM labs
I personaly prefer JM Lab speakers over B&W and own a pair of JM Lab 946 Electras. I would say the B&W Nau. D series are the best of the bunch so far BUT still believe the JM Lab to be better. I find the B&W tend to draw attention to t...
Threshold SA/3 to Pass Labs X250 comparison?
Please post your comments on the sonic differences between the Threshold and Pass Lab amps because I am also an owner of a Threshold S350e and was thinking of a Pass Lab upgrade as well.
XLR or Rca's for Bryston 4B ST/BP 25 Pre
I was also using AQ Quartz RCA interconnects between my Threshold amp and preamp for many years. Last year I decided to try balanced XLR cables and ordered the Signal Cable Silver Resolution cables. What a difference from the RCA AQ Quartz. The so...
Threshold Fet 10E bi-amping question
I also have a Threshold Fet 10e and S350e power amp. I briefly had my system bi amped with a loaner amp " Threshold 400a" I didn't have balanced cable at the time and just used a RCA spliter connector and the Fet 10e seemed to drive both amps fine...
Wilson Audio or JM Lab
I am quite familiar with the sound of both Wilson and JM Lab Utopias. I currently own a pair of 946 Electras but regularly hear both products at local dealers. IMO the Wilson speakers I have heard, WP 5, WP 7 and X1 Grand Slam are more Hi Fi like,...
How often should you re-calibrate your ears?
I try to get out at least a few times a year to experience live music. Live is live and IMO no amount of money can buy a Hi Fi system that can equal the live experience. Last year I went to a Jazz concert and the next day I visited a local Hi Fi d...
