HT Pre\pro with digital out
The Emotiva XMC-1 is an option due to its digital out and it is a small fee for the full Dirac Live version. Please check with Emotiva on the digital output to see if the digital output will have a "Diract corrected" signal.----It does look like...
Opinion of Acurus 2 and 3 channel amplifiers is ... what?
The internals of these Acurus amps are very simple, so any good electronics repair technician can do it.  There are just the two big 23,000 uf cabs for the main power supply and looks like just one small cap per amp board (probably 100uf).
Opinion of Acurus 2 and 3 channel amplifiers is ... what?
It can be as low at 10-15 years, depending on the electrolytic capacitor.  The electrolytic caps do dry out over usage and time due to heat during use.
MidFi multi channel solution needed for HT.
Best I can tell, the Acurus/Mondial amps are a slightly colored / slightly liquid type of sonic signature - much like the liquid/lush cleaner type "Class A" amps, such as the older Krell (or new Krell iBias) or even a little like Levinson (though,...
First World Problem in need of Solution
The Parasound P7 is not really a true HT Processor.  It's a 7 channel analog preamp.----For HT Processor, I would recommend getting the highest resolution processor possible, depending on your budget.  If 4K is a requirement, maybe Krell Foundatio...
Which upgraded fuse is recommended for an Onkyo and Elac setup?
Be aware that with a title like this, we may eventually get people are are so negative on fuses that this thread turns into a flame war.  That being said, it is difficult to answer your question.  In general, I think the Furutech rhodium fuses are...

1.8A is fine.   That's enough for 216 watts of A/C power, which the HT Processor will not come close to using.
B&W 803 D3 speakers - which amp?
I have read one or two comments in the past that say the McIntosh multi-channel amps aren't that good, but I take that with a grain of salt.  I don't think you will get any major difference in sound, but the larger MC462 will likely have better ba...
804D3 for main speakers and 805D3 for rear surround? is this ok for Multi-Ch Speaker Music
The 805D3 are actually pretty amazing speakers for bookshelves.  They have very good bass, even though they are small.  It would be a great match to the 804D3.
Is Marantz AV8805 good enough pre amp for McIntosh MC8207
@tomiiv30 - How do you like the AV8805?  As I have said in multiple other threads, I tested the 8805 and thought it was very good, but with slightly rolled off highs.  If you want more high frequency resolution, I recommend upgrading the fuse to 2...
First World Problem in need of Solution
Sorry, nekoaudio, but I disagree here.  A large power supply in the amp is very important, yes, but the sonic signature and how it reacts to signal/load is another important factor.  I have worked with several different amps (Bryston is one of the...
Home Theater Receiver recommendations for B&W 803S?
Ok, a tip on the fuse install.  Since you have a multimeter, you can test the fuse clip points.  Remove the fuse.  In most cases, one of the fuse clips will connect directly to one of the blades on the IEC inlet (usually the hot A/C conductor).  T...
First World Problem in need of Solution
You probably want at least a couple hundred watts per channel.  The best solution would be to find more Luxman amps, but they are definitely very expensive!!  I don't know if you can find a smaller M-700u that you could run mono for the center cha...
Home Theater Receiver recommendations for B&W 803S?
awilder - do you have a digital multimeter or a continuity tester?
litz copper vs stranded silver?
Copper can be a little murky if you are using all gold-plated connectors, but yes, I agree it is more natural and realistic.  I have found 20awg solid-core to be the sweet spot between strong bass and good resolution highs, but you could try build...
