Is computer audio a bust?
Anyone who thinks USB can't be done right has never spent time with Peachtree's XMOS-chip based asynch implementation in their X-1 Grand Integrated. My system could not be much simpler...an off-the-shelf HP computer from Costco, playing songs ripp...
Newbie question re: USB quality
Hi Lofarasa, thanks for the help. Ok, here's some feedback on what you're asking:- running JRiver 19, fully updated, WASAPI using the Peachtree X-1 24/192 driver. No enhancements running, EQ off, so the JRiver sound isn't being boosted in any way....
Is computer audio a bust?
Computer audio is a passing fad, just like sex and marijuana (not necessarily together, but not necessarily not together). You wait - in 5 years, nobody will want any of the three. You heard it here first.
Newbie question re: USB quality
And by the way, Scott I hope you don't mind my temporarily hijacking your thread - hopefully given that my question is similar to yours, regarding USB vs. other methods, there's value in the answers for you as well.
Newbie question re: USB quality
Ok, I'll open my mind and consider all possibilities, including Cerrot's. Let me tell you what I currently have, please tell me if there's a better way for me to transfer data:- My listening room is my office, a room about 12x12. - My PC is connec...
Preachtree Nova220se compared to Devialet
I'm glad Recred1 pointed that out, about Aerial using the Peachtree at one of their shows. I agree - they could use any of dozens of integrated amps to power their speakers at a show, and the fact that they went with a Peachtree says a lot. The po...
Preachtree Nova220se compared to Devialet
Seanile, did you actually listen to the Peachtree 220SE with the 3 pairs of speakers, and determine via actual listening that it wasn't a good match? Or are you just assuming that's the case because there's a price gap between the speakers and Pea...
Walking Into A Brick & Mortar High End Audio Store
I know exactly what you mean, Jwm, we're on the same page. I agree there's a subset group of buyers for whom price is the only consideration - nothing else matters. I just wonder if too many salespeople prematurely "give up" on potential customers...
FREIGHT SHIPPER
Sorry, correction, the C&F in your region is out of Middlesex, NJ, but they handle your whole area.
FREIGHT SHIPPER
If you're talking about big floor standers, something valuable and fragile like the 802, I can recommend Craters & Freighters...we used them many times to ship everything from artwork to jukeboxes to pinball machines to rare furniture. They ha...
Walking Into A Brick & Mortar High End Audio Store
You said it Cerrot, I completely agree. Relationships have value.JWN, you're not wrong, you can get plenty of new or near-new equipment on Audiogon at great prices. But we're not talking socks and t-shirts here, items which you buy and forget. Aud...
Walking Into A Brick & Mortar High End Audio Store
I can offer my perspective from the other side...I own an Internet business, selling jewelry (average purchase $1500), so my business competes against B&M stores - I try to poach customers based on price, and convenience, but I'm at the disadv...
The End Of Big Iron?
@Mapman, it's interesting that you mention not going back from Class D, including to tube amps.In addition to the Peachtree Grand, I have an ARC VSi55 that I run in the winter when the heat isn't an issue here in AZ, and I swap them out between my...
The End Of Big Iron?
@mitch4t, I think you may like what you hear from class D. I used to have what, to me, was "big iron"...an ATI1506 6x150 amp. Not huge power output like you guys are talking about, but man I hated having to move that thing. Threw off a lot of heat...
Seeking more 3d imaging, deeper/wider soundstage
What great responses...kudos to everyone for not immediately jumping on the "buy this new amp!" bandwagon. I completely agree...you have a fantastic grouping of components, you should be very proud. Before I'd spend a penny on any electronics repl...
