Speakers with warm treble and good bass
Aniwolfe’s ET LFT-8b suggestion is a good one. The speaker has a 3-position tweeter switch (x/o frequency 10kHz!), the low setting providing the soft highs you desire. Some speakers sound the opposite of soft not because of frequency response and ...
Bands who'se names describe thier sound.
I did not want to be the one say it boxer (I already bore everyone enough with my Band ravings ;-), but you got it. Their name came from the residents of Woodstock, who came to think of Bob Dylan’s band as their own local Band (Woodstock is a smal...
Review: Bedini Electronics BA-801 Amplifier
Well I'll be! It's surprising to hear of a ss designer/builder getting into tubes after so long as a ss only company. I still have a 25/25, a nice little Class A amplifier.
Looking for my first tube amplifier, help appreciated.
Music Reference RM-200, which goes for about $2000 used, the improved Mk.2 version for about $500 more (one sold just yesterday on Audiogon for $2400). One small signal tube and two KT88/120 output tubes per channel for 100 watts. That's right, 10...

I briefly played with a guy who facetiously (I think) proposed the Band name Cool Guys With Big D*cks. He’s dead now (drank himself to death in his late 30’s), so feel free to use it, anyone ;-).
Tune of the Day
There's a video on You Tube picturing Brian Wilson and the other Beach Boys around the time the song "God Only Knows" was recorded. What makes this clip worth searching for is that what you hear is the isolated piano and melody vocal, sans the orc...

Too late, the RM-200 sold in one day.
Review: Bedini Electronics BA-801 Amplifier
Mariano, Bedini makes solid state amps only, so you'll have to look elsewhere for a "KT88 vintage" (KT88 is a tube). I don't know what you mean by "vintage", but there are plenty of nice new amps that will run KT88's, including the Music Reference...
Greatest American Rock and Role Bands of ALL Time
I could make a list, but Zaikesman had it covered way back in 2002. His included some names I myself wouldn’t, but just about every one I would is there. I would not, however, list "Bob Dylan & The Band" as an integrated unit, but rather The B...
Exotic vocal
Lene Lovich. She sounds like she's from Mars.
Best Live Recording on LP
Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks: Where’s The Money? Fun, quirky music, good recorded sound. The following year’s studio album Striking It Rich is great too, with real good sound, "audiophile" almost. The Band: Live At The Academy Of Music 1971 (4 CD ...
Canadian rock and roll
Astro, I bought Music From Big Pink upon it's release in '68 on American Capitol, and the s/t album (the "Brown" album) on same in '69. In '70 I got hired at the best record store in San Jose (Discount Records, owned by Columbia/CBS at the time. T...
Tune of the Day
Great song Astro! And what an album, with great drumming by the stunningly good Jim Gordon (Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Derek & The Dominoes, Traffic). He went mad and killed his mother, and is now locked up.
Canadian rock and roll
If I could have only 100 albums, two of them would be the first two Band albums. If I could have only 10 albums, two of them would be the first two Band albums. If I could have only 2 albums, they would be the first two Band albums. If I'm buried i...
Whats playing on your system today?
dgarretson---How is the sound of those three new BB SACD's? Those three albums (plus Sunflower) are real good ones from that period in their history. I see they are also available on LP; guess I'll have to choose between the two, 'cause I'll spend...
