i remember an album with an airplane on the cover, maybe it was called "modern times", loved the first side of this lp.played it often.

once saw stevie ray vaughn open for the moody blues during their long distance voyager tour. while srv did not blow away the moody's (they were both performed extremely good sets). I bring this up only because the pairing was odd.

the waterboys absolutely killed u2 back in the day, this was in a 2000 seat auditorium just after "unforgetable fire" was released. u2 only played for just under 90 mins. and they played like they just did not care. And the waterboys were so good ...

saw him in ann arbor a couple of years ago and was absolutely amazed what this man did right from note one. I try to go see all the older statesmen of jazz but sometimes the performances are these titans are in direct correlation to their ages.But...
