Opinion on SME 15 Noise introduced through the bearing to the record can’t be fixed or compensated for elsewhere - though we are probably talking about levels below commercial pressing limits.@tobes A ’rumble filter’ doesn’t help?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? I found an NOS Empire 2000Z. I didn't expect it even to be good, but I was riveted from the first notes. I've never heard a cartridge with such energy, even enthusiasm in playing music. Accurate? Maybe not compared with some others — but I've been...
Oricle SME 345 tonearm on Michell Gryro V puts the matter to rest.
Oricle SME 345 tonearm on Michell Gryro My assumption is it’s step up over the 309, but not sure if it’s a big enough step to get over the color and Oricle logo.It looks like my 309. Why do you "assume it's a step up"?
Dynavector cartridges, old and new Delete
Dynavector cartridges, old and new I too found the LP12/Ittok 'mediocre'. But I tried the Ittok on other tables (including Oracle Delphi II) and it excelled. The LP12 was the weak partner IMO. I still use an Ittok 25 years later for certain MCs.
Stroboscopic disk sets wrong speed for turntable? Are you sure the app-strobe flashes at the right frequency for that TT?
Micro Seiki BL-111, how good is it ? @edgewear — Have you used the SAEC SS-300? I’d like to know your impressions.
Tru-Lift tonearm lifter for Technics i have no idea why anyone should buy it if very similar lift made in Japan by Audio-Technica is much cheaper?AT is again making its own invention, with a simplification (the old 'lock-down' wire wasn't needed). When AT's patents expired, others ru...
My sacrilegeous question to audiophiles out there regarding parametric equalizer. I would not personally use an equalizer......I consider it analogous to altering the colors of an original painting.I think this analogy is misleading. An 'original painting' is a work of art. A musical performance is a work of art, but a recordin...
Micro Seiki BL-111, how good is it ? If it’s as good as the BL-91, it’s exceptional. If, as the higher number suggests, it’s even better, I can’t imagine how. If it has the 505 tonearm, I’m not a big fan. It’s very good, don’t get me wrong, with a great feature I’ve never seen elsewh...
Cogging! Thanks for the info Lewm, and sorry about the FR question — I confused you with another Audiogon member whom I follow closely. The DQX uses a different motor entirely than the DDX — it's made by Victor — I don't know if it's the same as used in Vic...
Cogging! bimasta, If you hear no issues with the turntables you own, then how do you know the motor is guilty of cogging? Is it merely because they are iron core motors?@lewm I just noticed your intelligent question. Honestly I don’t know; I guess because ...
The Presslift @rodman99999 My pleasure, hope it works for you.To OP, if you're still listening. Despite some negative remarks, your spiral idea is brilliant. And multiple arms too? I didn't think of that, nor of no need to reset. My only misgivings are not with...
"New" Thorens 124 sounds great, but... Early 124s had a ferrous platter. MCs became popular later, and that platter created havoc, just as you describe. So they made a new platter, non-magnetic. Swinging to the outside is repulsion, and playing with adjustments won't change the laws of... |
