Vienna Acoustics vs Revel Studios?
God bless you both! Two guys who are having fun instead of telling others to shut up. Refreshing!
Fuse or braker for dedicated lines?
Gentlemen, gentlemen, let us calm ourselves. CFB and Bob are reading quite a little bit into what I said. It is true that I haven't been here a long time and it is true that I failed to understand that worldcup HAS been here a long time. But you f...
What is stopping the ultimate?
Good observations by all. My own listing, in no particular order:SpeakersRecording/mixing techniquesPerformance quality
Fuse or braker for dedicated lines?
Audiophiles are funny people, Worldcup, as you will learn in short order if you hang out here very much. I recently had a man tell me with absolute seriousness that when he painted his listening room a different color it changed the sound coming o...
Odd shaped speakers
Oh, I dunno. A one-tube active design--I can think of the perfect place for the tube--couple of inductors just below and behind the tube....what's the problem? As I'm down here in Orlando, we can call it the Mouth of the South. Or, instead of Altec...
Vienna Acoustics vs Revel Studios?
No....the formula you have provided is CUBIC feet. Square feet is the length of the room times its width and is a measure of the floor surface area. Length times width times height is cubic feet and is a measure of volume.
Fuse or braker for dedicated lines?
Provided that you do not use magnetic breakers (and I very much doubt that you would, unless you are thinking of installing your system in an airplane), neither breakers nor fuses should create any problems. I replaced my breaker when I created a ...
Breaking in JM Lab Mini Utopia's???
Can't speak to the Mini Utopia but my experience with my own Mezzo Utopias is the same as cfb suggests--200 or so hours. The change was clearly apparent, not huge, and all for the better. Transitions became virtually undetectable and the whole sou...
Odd shaped speakers
I'm thinking of a full range folded horn design in the shape of the Edvard Munch "Scream" with a Lowther driver in the mouth and the the horn mouth emerging from the arse. This should afford some technical challenges while addressing both audiophil...
Vienna Acoustics vs Revel Studios?
Brother Dearing, with all respect if you have a 1700ft2 room and you're having problems with boominess, you either need to work on placement or you need some serious acoustic treatment. I've heard Mahlers perform magnificently in rooms as small as...
Odd shaped speakers
And cables, cuz they look like spaghetti? And class A amps because they get as hot as frying pans?
TOTALLY CONFUSED about analog
You're right, Jimbo, it DOES sound strident and I wonder why? Mercy sakes, my friend, don't you READ what people write? I'll let pbb speak for himself but in my case I AM NOT ANALOG ADVERSE. I have been and will continue to be complimentary to and...
Two quick questions about VMPS
Thanks for the help. I've heard good things but, y'know, so many of our brethren and sistren here on the 'gon think if it don't cost a fortune it can't be no dam' good.I'll check out the old listings. Have also made arrangements to hear a VMPS sub...
TOTALLY CONFUSED about analog
Pbb, I, at least, know where you are coming from. Sold my vinyl, my Linn, my Koetsu, my Keith Monks, et alia, years ago. Put the money into equipment that was good enough to be highly listenable but not so costly that I wouldn't be willing to turn...
Are more expensive speakers better?
Thank goodness. I really didn't want to have to built it.The seriousness with which some of our members take these forums absolutely flabbergasts me. I have thus far received three private emails in which I have been told:1. Scanspeak does not man...
