Christmas Music and Audiophiles?
I love classics, hate just about any newer attempts at X-Mas music. I do like "Xmas with the Family" might be the only exemption. Especially hate that countrified tune about a kid buying shoes for his dying mommy. I will pass on the sob rag, pass ...
Veteran's Day
I never served but have the greatest respect for those who have. And for every soldier, there is a family that serves in their own way. They deserve more than our thanks.
Any pleasant surprises because of guest appearance
Ok, this was a show a friend caught. After all these years I remember, must still be jealous. At a club in the Atlanta Underground, Big Brother and the Holding Co was playing and Frank Zappa walked in and proceeded to jam with them. Like to have b...
Top 10 Snafus to avoid when building a good rig
Underestimating the importance of speaker/amp matching. Its easy to misjudge an amp or speakers. I always cringe when I read a reviewer making summery judgement on either after using it with only one set of components.
Can I build a Proac Response 3
The MTM configuration and driver spacing is almost certainly critical to the design of the proacs.
You Still Need, What??
If was to choose a wife who is fascinated by shiny objects, I would find one who is still distracted when I jiggle my keys.
Name 3 under appreciated pop/rock drummers
Graham Lear and Mark Craney both played with Gino Vannelli (different albums). Both went on to play with a litany of great rock and jazz artists. Both wonderful fusion drummers. Check out Lear's work on "Storm at Sunup" and Craney on "Brother to B...
You Still Need, What??
That's the problem with vinyl, a cdp can be plug and play, with vinyl there's always something next. Table, arm, cartridge, phono stage, cables, weights, isolation, will it ever end?If only digits sounded as good...
Ever tried putting a cap inline with RCA for XOVER
That's probably what a FMOD is, hlabs.com.
Playstion one audiophile stereophile review
As compared to my cheap Oppo, the PS1 is ultimately more enjoyable to me. The Oppo does present more detail, but this more explicit presentation is not as "musical" to me. I would consider minor power supply upgrade, but lets face it, the thing co...
Playstion one audiophile stereophile review
Mine really does sound great, best $15 I ever spent. Lots of mods and stuff if you search, mine is stock. Love the cheese factor, the look on my friend's faces when they hear my super cheapo system. I built some speaker cables the search leads you...
You never see this anymore
There was a time when Linn tried to dictate what other brands dealers sold and how they demoed Linn equipment. One dealer I knew called it blackmail. Funny part was when they trained the sales people to sit motionless and detached as they listened...
Strange Klipsch thing
"Depth" is engineered into recordings. Stereo is not sinply two channels as most already know. Without some degree of reverb voices sound dry and without dimension. Engineers "build soundstage". On the other hand, sound "lives" in space, An anecho...
How Long Ago Since You Cried Listening To Music?
Burton Cummings can make you cry with his solo hit "Stand Tall". That is if you allow yourself to laugh hard enough.
Favorite poorly-recorded albums
Jethro Tull Aqualung.
