Help Picking a turntable
Amen to the VPI Classic.  Very good table at its original price.  Discounted, its a great deal.  That VPI arm mates very well with an AT OC9/II.  Hard to beat at twice the price.
Curious .. What is the compared price of your tt vs spkrs
Let's see....  I guess, based on retail price, my tt, arm and cart is around USD 4500 - 5000.  Original retail.  Phono stage is around USD 3500.  So we'll say, conservatively, around USD 7500 - 8000.  Conservatively.  Speakers...  Custom designed ...

rwhowe11 - Don't know about others, but I never use reviews to decide what units to consider, only units that get crossed off the list. Too much bias and personal preference involved. Too many other factors that may influence a review. Read into t...
Is the Merill "Gem Dandy" turntable far superior in sound than the Project RPM-3 TT??
Comparing the tables is really a matter of preference.  Some people really like all the colorations introduced by Rega tables.  Others prefer the more neutral performance of the Merrills. The Jelco SA-750 is a significantly better arm than the -250...
cleaning liquid for LPs
I have been very satisfied with Disc Doctor cleaning fluids.  Not terrible expensive, but really effective.DON'T BE FOOLED INTO USING ANY ALCOHOL-BASED CLEANERS.  They can leach out some of the softeners required to help a record recover from use.
Recommendation on MC cartidge and Phono Preamp
There goes Peter / pbnaudio, again.  Recommending components that he manufacturers without a disclosure.  Nice job, Peter.
First "audiophile" system, now what? Any easy fixes here?
Don't worry about upgrading for a while.  Just enjoy the music.  Enjoy what a nice system like yours will give back to you.

Herron on top and occupies the first twelve positions on the list.  Then the Allnic, followed by the Manley, then the Accuphase.  Spend a few dollars more on the Herron VTPH-2 and you won't have to worry about upgrading.  I need to also indicate t...
Herron VTPH-2 12ax7 Recommendations?
I agree with stevecham, rcprince and dodgealum.  I have owned both a VTPH-1mc and a [currently] VTPH-2.  I have never wanted for a different sound.  The original tubes were always very satisfying.  I'd hang with those tubes for a year or two to se...

I agree that VPI seems to produce the best tables at their price points.  They are VERY hard to beat.  As a suggestion, a used early VPI table can generally / often be upgraded with one of their 2 inch aluminum platters / bearings and motor system...
Should I buy a Class A Amp.
nutty Not sure where you're getting the 1400watt output number.  ML's specs indicate 2 ohm output to 500wpc.  Please post the source for the specs you claim.

I second bdp24.  IMO, nothing tops a Herron VTPH-2.  Even an updated VTPH-1mc will top pretty much anything else out there.
Should I buy a Class A Amp.
alzo spracht nutty:" For example the no.336’s continuous output is 350 watts per channel @8ohms, 700 watts per channel @4ohms and 1400 watts @2 ohms- assuming the electrical circuit in the wall can support these extraordinary power levels. A "...
Should I buy a Class A Amp.
Don't be fooled by different amp designs.  Some Class A amps sound terrible, some Class AB sound wonderful.  Those are not the only designs out there.  And there are a lot of variations to those designs.  You need to listen to specific amps in you...
Douk Audio. Any experience with any of their products?
I got their DAC on Ebay.  Quite impressive.  I'm very satisfied.  Integrates well into my all-Herron Audio electronics.  I use an Onkyo CD player as a transport, co-ax works better than optical.  Intend to integrate a PC as a streaming source to t...
