Cartridge for a vintage Sansui table/arm
I second the Shure 97, great sound and value. If you search you will find them for $50. Why spend more?

Best REEL TO REEL blank tape?
Why put vinyl on tape? Just keep the vinyl and maintain a good turntable. I have few R2R decks together with a large collection of commercially pre-recorded tapes. These tapes sound great, many of which were commercially recorded from vinyl and us...

Katie Melua, will set you on a path to more like her, including Nora Jones. Katie's two DVD's are a great way to see and hear her. They are a great value.

Any Cayin or VAS, used, of course.
Do you buy new equipment because you are bored
I second, definitely a mental problem. Reminds me of the question, 'can you get bored with sex'.
Projector question
Better you look at some of the 70" LCD's, projectors are a hassle. The new 70's run about $4K. A good projector, mount, screen, cabling etc. will run about $6k and need bulbs at 400.
CD player distortion on all CDs
Get your money back from the 'fixer', dump it and move on.
Room Treatment for Corners - Recommendations?
Rolled up carpet in the corners, floor to ceiling, will do the trick. Also, save you money. Doesn't work, back they go for a full refund. Yes, I know low on the WAC, but you let her pick the color.
Bang for the buck
Think room treatments, still the best bang.
Best travel destinations for audiophiles
China, for a ten week tour of all the factories making audiophile gear. They often give free samples and only charge you for shipping. You buy by the pound. Can I sign you up?
Best steak to eat while listening to your rig?
Kobe beef, before the quake. Stock up, it will never taste the same. I hear it is at $80 a pound.
Why We Need Audiophiles ?
Keep the 'flame' alive, listen to real sound, forever.
I NEED a tone control to control bass.
Best you move to a 'bunker', as all else is just fooling around. I solved the problem by moving to a cheap missile silo, boy does the government know how to control the 'bass'.
CD Advice
Time of a Sony 595 refurb from SonyStyle, at $60 you can do not wrong.
