Theta Gen Va upgrade to Gen VIII
Garebear.I own a theta Gen Va and love it but I do want to get the very best out of it without spending a ridiculous $7,000 for an upgrade to the Gen. VIII. I already had the unit upgraded to 24/96. Are there any other upgrades you know of to this...
Speakers that sing
Silverline Sonata MK.lll. I just got them as an upgrade to the Sonata MK.ll and they are stunning. they now incorporate the Dnya Esotech tweeter, midrange and wolfer drivers. They are more transparent and smoother in the upper range and deeper and...
The best DAC for the money
Theta Gen. Va cannot be beat in the price range you are looking especially at a used price of $1,500. I replaced my theta pro Basic llla with the Gen. Va and never looked back. You would have to spend double the price to find a unit that outperform...
Coincident vs Silverline vs Ref 3a
Hi Art,I own the siverline Sonata MK.ll for close to two years now. They never fail to please me in every sonic way. Yes, there are better speakers out there but not at this price level. I have heard the Coincident's Victory and was impressed by th...
Tubes for Audio Research LS-16 Pre Amp
I just replaced my stock LS 16 tubes with NOS tubes and the sonics have never been better. Best upgrade I have made to the unit.
PS Audio 300 vs Tice powerblock II
Everone who has said to stick with the PS Audio 300 over the Tice 11 has not compared the PS Audio to Tice 111c. I agree 100% with mwilson. The Tice 111c is better then the PS Audio in every aspect of musicality, period. I know because I owned the...
Qualitative test of Auric Illuminator
Yes, the audio world is strange and I must confess that I too was curious if this "gimmick" really works. Well I tried the Auric Illuminator with the black pen and I have to confess that I am now a believer. There was not a night & day transfo...
SILVERLINE SONATA II-giant killer?
Bob. I have used the Sonata ll for a year now and my equipment is a tube pre and tube amp. The amp is a VTL 150 which is rated at 150 watts in tetrode and 70 watts in triode. As you probable know, these speakers are extremely efficient (95db.)and ...
Best amp to replace my Classe CA-100
I have owned both Classe and ARC amps and both are good but there is no better amp in the $4,000 and under range than the VTL 150.
Classe compared to the Theta Dreadnaught
Stop this foolishness. Buy a Yamaha receiver and give up the quest for the absolute sound. "The force be with you".
Recommendations for a Digital interconnect.
Thanks for all the recommendations. As most were in favor of the Kimber D60 Illumination, I purchased a pair the other day. They are almost burned in and sound fantastic in my system. They gave me everything I was looking for.Again thanks to all w...
Best Kept Speaker Secret?
I have to agree with fizgig, the Silverline Sonata's are superb from top to bottom. All the speakers mentioned here are very good and I've heard most of them but the silverline just disappear and let you hear the music.
Theta Pro Basic III upgraded to III A,
I've got a Pro Gen.VI that was upgraded to a VIa, upgraded to a VII, and finally upgraded to a VIIa to trade for your IIIa. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Which DAC is supposed to be better?
Theta Gen.Va. You can pick one up used for around $1,200.
Silverline "Sonatina II" vs. Coincident "Victory"
I recently purchased the Sonata mk.11 speakers. I auditioned the Coincident speaker line but like you, I was unable to hear the Silverlines. I bought the Sonata on the reccomendation of a friend and all I can say is that they are superior to the C...
