XLR interconnects?
I agree with you somewhat Atmasphere, but there will always be the cables geometry, network/non-network, insulation and conductor purity/type of metal that will act as a variable. To risk sounding redundant, the technology will get us close, but w...
XLR interconnects?
In the end, the only person who is right is yourself. What YOU HEAR is what matters...not what SOMEONE ELSE says you SHOULD be hearing. Knowledge, understanding and sound engineering get us most of the way there, but for the rest of the journey? W...
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong?
I'm going to check out the Acoustic Revive stuff...very interesting.
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong?
Re-checked the Dark Fields in my system and found an immediate dulling of the sound and a blunting of leading edge transients. Not good! The product is a failure as far as I am concerned.
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong?
I may do that. Several years ago Jonathan Valin did a review of the ceramic cable elevators and concluded that there was no free lunch. He found that the body and weight of instruments were reduced, thus affecting their apparent palpability and so...
Any exp. w/ Shunyata Dark Field Cable Elevators
See my update under "Cable elevators-conventional wisdom wrong?" Further listening proved disturbing in that a dullness and lifelessness became evident on familiar material. A lack of sustain on instruments, dry high frequencies, reduced body and ...
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong?
OK, I can say that there is definately a reduction in transparency and low level detail along with a dullness evident in the lack of sustain on instruments. Body and weight of instruments are also decreased. After trying various Shunyata products ...

Tbg might be on to something...today, after several days of settling in with the Dark Fields, I noticed that some of my favorite recordings were sounding a bit constricted in the midbass and middle C range of the piano etc... Highs were also sound...
Review: Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player
You must keep in mind that I am using the XA5400ES in a simple purist high end setup. I have a Transparent MM PC ($2250)connected to an isolated Wattgate outlet. My interconnect is an MIT Oracle V1.2 proline ($6500) which feeds the Sony into my ba...
I am sick of cables
Thanks Bar81, I thought it sounded like it was taking longer than the paperwork indicated. It's been almost a week of constant play and it is just starting to exhibit the characteristics of what MIT claims to occur at day 2.
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong?
Yup, that pretty much covers it Mmarvin19:O)
I am sick of cables
How long do the Oracle IC's take to FULLY break in on a front end connection Bar81?
Review: Sony SCD-XA5400ES CD Player

Dark Fields have improved the sound for me. Better seperation, lower noise floor and enhanced definition.
Any exp. w/ Shunyata Dark Field Cable Elevators
Joeyboynj, I purchased the Dark Fields from Robert at the cable Co. as well....very nice indeed! Better seperation, lower noise floor, enhanced transparency, improved definition and overall moves my system closer to the real thing:O)
