| Can someone tell me what this song is?? I've got a really fantastic recording / performance of this, which is one of the few discs I use to test new equipment. Archiv ProduktionStereo 400 045-2copyright 1982 Polydor INternational GmbH, Hamburg, Previously released as 2534 003The English... | |
| Interesting article on musician's brain waves... Didn't catch that. Sounds interesting though. Question is, do people with inherently larger "brain pathways" related to music end up listening to more, or does listening to music a lot strengthen those connections? If it's like everything else, it... | |
| Clockwise or counter looking at the panel? let me add another warning. as most people have said, mit's locking clamps work in reverse. you hold the stationary part, and rotate the moving part clockwise, and it will travel back towards you. HOWEVER, some of those damn cables can still be qu... | |
| Burning question regarding upgrading paths Yes, we were talking about the same five rings. Also, my partner and I named our company after the book. | |
| Burning question regarding upgrading paths Viggen - check out the book. It's a quick read. As a quick oversimplification: having a flexible repertory is good. In different types of battle situations, you want to be like fire, or like water, etc. Same is true in work (not to mention in life... | |
| How BIG is yours? Well, our collection probably tops out at a few hundred CD's, which is probably a bit lopsided considering the 2-channel portion of our system retails around 11 or 12k (not including cabling). well, i suppose 300 CD's retails for around 4 or 5k (w... | |
| Best Cables for Eidolon/Boulder system the change will definitely be more than subtle, although i can't guarantee you'll love it. cardas (esp. golden cross, from what i've been told, though i've only heard other stuff of theirs) has a very distinctive sound. tara labs sound very very d... | |
| Burning question regarding upgrading paths Gunbei - right on, man. I'm one half of a consulting firm dubbed 'Five Rings Consulting.' It's amazing how relevant that stuff is to modern business. Not a bad idea to wipe the slate clean system-wise either...except, I'm starting to shake and cry... | |
| Am i going crazy No reason not to go with what you like. There's enough hokus-pokus in this business, not to mention phenomena which we lack the technology to understand, that you can't always predict what will work well. But yes, you are going crazy (trust me, I'... | |
| What would you do?? Have some leads surgically installed into your cats (one cat per channel), then attach some speaker cable (the fur behind the neck works best), and allow your amp to vibrate the cats. This method of transduction produces a modicum of extraneous no... | |
| 2 systems one set of speakers????? I'm not sure about running 2 sets of cable to the same speakers, perhaps someone else will comment on that. I know of one way you can use both sets through the same speakers, if your amp can take both a balanced and an unbalanced signal. Route you... | |
| Recs for HT upgrade? I'd look into Theta. They are modular, so SHOULD be upgradeable (as of course they promise to be). The DaVid-II is a very nice DVD player, which will run balanced, and sounds fantastic for CD playback as well. Their processors are also truly top-n... | |
| Burning question regarding upgrading paths Question 1) B - get yourself a good preamp.Question 2) F - none of the above. however, you may satisfy both questions by actually upgrading the speaker cable instead of getting a preamp, as long as you buy acoustic zen, of course (they do have a m... | |
| A bi-amping question My guess is it'll be close enough. Ratings aren't exact. Brystons are supposed to test higher than they're rating, particularly the 4b. I used to use a pair of 3b's for my fronts (as monoblocks), which allegedly is supposed to produce the same pow... | |
| Bryston 9B-ST or Pass Labs X5 I'm currently using Bryston amps with a theatre grand II for HT and it works very well. Have never heard the other amp, though. If you're going to use a 9b for all 5 channels, be sure 120w (8ohms) is enough for your fronts for 2 channel listening. |
