| Super Cheap Upgrade It's way back there. They had to use this giant metal syringe thingy that shoots hot water in to soften the wax and then a stick with a hook on the end to disengage the ball of wax. Sound more painful than it is. Just mildly annoying with a bit of... | |
| DL103 Nude-ing Instruction? The sound is not even comparable. Way more open and detail but still retaining it's overall warm character. The EMT TDS15 is a similar nude cartridge and they share a lot of the same characteristics but the Denon's about 15% of the price. EMT is w... | |
| So what's a good preamp? I updated my system. | |
| So what's a good preamp? Gone :(Kbuzz-- Thanks for the comments but unfortunately I don't have that system anymore. Sadly we had to move to a much smaller place (sad because of the stereo, love the place) and everything had to go. I've started over with equipment that fit... | |
| So what's a good preamp? That's an incredibly nice offer. I actually got the chance to hear the Mk1 yesterday in my system. It was a little tube-ey if that makes sense, sort of thick around the middle and a little rolled off the top. I'm sure subsequent revisions attacked... | |
| Identify this hum, please That's where I'm headed. Lots of money though so I'll be saving up! | |
| So what's a good preamp? I'm also thinking K&K Maxxed Out with built in volume control. Maybe that's the best solution. I know someone with a Modwright. I should see if I can borrow it. | |
| So what's a good preamp? Thanks for the advice. I've seen the Emotive Audio before, just beautiful. I'll grab one if it pops up. I'm thinking about the LA100 but it's a MK1 so I'm it seems overpriced a bit. I just plugged in a Hagerman Clarinet and that wasn't very good. ... | |
| Identify this hum, please I did all the ground lifting and measuring and in the end it's not the amp. It's the preamp. I replaced the passive with an old Advent 300 receiver (using it's preamp out) and the hum is gone. That Advent actually sounds WAY better than it should.... | |
| Anyone try EMT TSD15 with K&K? I'll email Kevin. If I can get it less than 2K and then I can go for the Silvercore or a used A23 if one pops up. Thanks. | |
| Identify this hum, please It's not the amps. I hooked my iPod up to the amp and listened and there's no problem. It's both the preamp and the phono stage since when I unplug the phono stage/turntable (which is powered by the same DC power supply -- WT Simplex and a Dynavec... | |
| Anyone try EMT TSD15 with K&K? That's right! I forgot. I then would have to find a MM phono stage with volume control to match. My budget is about $2500. | |
| Harbeth P3ESR - What electronics are you using? They also sounded nice with an ARC D70 MK2. | |
| Easy biasing Tube amps Rogue Atlas is easy. Flip a switch, turn a screw, read a meter on the top panel. Simple. | |
| Review: Audio Research D-70 mkII Tube amp I've got my D70 MK2 on the way! Very excited. Bought it when a friend did some comparisons with current ARC amps and came to the same conclusion. Ref 150 and up better, Ref 75 not. Nothing else in their line matched it although I don't know if he'... |
