Music Server now bane of my existence
Actually, setting up the Mac to play music isn't difficult and once it's setup, when I was paying a lot less money for power, I used to leave my gear on all the time so any time I had a moment, I just used the app to select my music and began play...

For those who want an idiot proof computer audio system try an Aurender.
Music Server now bane of my existence
I don't disagree that setting up a music server optimally does take some tweaking and it helps if you are already familiar with how they work.Mach2Music has a blog with sections on optimizing the OS for music playback. FWIW, getting a Mini to play...
Mach2Music modified Mac Mini
Glad I could help :)
Music Server now bane of my existence
I use MochaVNC on the iPad but I suspect the speed on that has to do with the inadequacy of the iPad's hardware. The MBP/MBAs do a decent job even over wifi talking to the Mini which is connected over wiredFWIW, I don't use VNC on the Mini to play...
Music Server now bane of my existence
Here I am typing this running screen sharing on a 2011 MacBook Air remote controlling a 2009 MacBook Pro (quite ancient) over wifi (on the MBA) and wired (to the MBP) and it still works remarkably well. It is a bit slow if you are running a full H...

I've found Audirvana to be the most stable of the lot. I also try not to update itunes until I am sure the developer of (Audirvana or Puremusic or Amarra) has fixed any possible issues/tested the new build of itunes.Timrhu, my post does require so...
moon vs bel canto power amp
I dunno about the W3 but I'd avoid the M300. It uses IMHO one of the worst ICE modules around. Get a REF1000M or 500M, heck even the REF150S would sound better.

I try not to use the same interface (eg USB, Firewire, etc) for the connection to the DAC as well as the HDD storage. For the new Mini, I've had good results with a Thunderbolt GoFlex adaptor with the Seagate GoFlex drive. You do need a TB cable se...
Mach2Music modified Mac Mini
I could be wrong but a friend with the Mach2Music had the original HDD that shipped with the Mini returned to him. It contained a "fresh" image of the original SSD OS intall, with the tweaks M2M had included. So if the SSD is down, you can just get...
Using Apple + iTunes to stream - I need help
I remember copying my iTunes Library XML from the PC to Mac. Never done it the other way around. I did have to do a global search and replace to point to the right directory/folderDon't know if it will fix yours cos I use AIFF for precisely this r...
Best player for iPhone, pad
I use XLD on Mac to rip my CDs to AIFF. XLD can also rip to WAV and Apple Lossless (runs a compressed lossless algorithm like FLAC).XLD works similarly to EAC which does error correction and checks against an online database.

USB Camera Kit is an attachment to the iPad and adds a USB Type A port and makes the iPad a USB host.Using a regular A to B cable, you can connect that USB port to a USB DAC. This works as long as the DAC is USB Audio Class 1.0 compliant (up to 24...
Best player for iPhone, pad
Yes but as some articles have stated, that's a hack that works and we don't know if Apple would disable this. As we know, the same connector doesn't allow that same feature on the iPhone so we know it can be locked out. The official Apple endorsed...
Best player for iPhone, pad
The music player in yr iPhone/iPad plays lossless AIFF, WAV and Apple Lossless. No need to purchase a new player. There's FLACplayer that I use to play FLAC but it is not as easy to manage my playlists and library with that.ps there's a hardware li...
