battling the pops and clicks
Sorry, typo. I meant ZEROSTAT.http://www.2spi.com/catalog/photo/zerostat.shtmlAvailable from nearly everywhere, Acoustic Sounds, Music Direct, etc.
advice for best reliable turntable
A Teres has nothing that's ever likely to need repair, other than the circuit board or the motor I suppose. Shipping that would be easy enough. No part of the table itself is going to break, unless you drop it from a second story window. That migh...
Zyx R1000 Airy3 vs Universe
No slouch,Read my reviews of both cartridges if you haven't (link by my signature). Short version: The Airy 3 is a great cartridge. It has the tonal balance, accurate voicing and seamless integration of all ZYXs, but it's faster, more dynamic and ...
cause, solution, ideas please...
If you mean putting the weights on the plinth, it depends on the design of the table. If yours is a suspended table then I wouldn't recommend it. The suspension was presumably designed for the amount of mass it's supporting now. Overloading the su...
Please recommend Best MM catridge
Um, shouldn't someone be asking him what tonearm this cartridge is going on? Recommending a cartridge without knowing that is shooting in the dark. He could end up with some horrible mismatch.
Where to go from Basis 2000/RB300/Glider?
Shall we rename this thread "Lazarus"? Of course he wasn't down for 27 months, so this revival is an even greater miracle.
battling the pops and clicks
Chadnliz,Rather than spraying something (anything) near my table or rig I prefer to zap the LP with a Zerodust. No residue to worry about.Nsgarch,Good question. I'm sure stylus profile has something to do with it. The Lyra Olympus I heard was also...
Need to re-discover analog - please help
Denis,Glad to hear you're finally up and running, and achieving the kind of results you were hoping for. Your summary of the differences between analog and digital matches my experience (and that of many others) exactly. As Cello said, much of the ...
battling the pops and clicks
Ejlif, a few ideas...Try RRL solutions instead of DD. With RRL a distilled water rinse is unnecessary and in fact counterproductive. RRL is actually purer than most distilled water, and it never foams or leaves any residue. On my Loricraft RRL get...
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Do I hear wedding bells? They could even be really BIG bells, since they both have great LF response!
Rewire and new power cord or Upgrade TT
I would not suggest a Grado to someone seeking better imaging and soundstaging. Grados do certain things well, but not those things.
Rewire and new power cord or Upgrade TT
I agree with Cmk. Your table and arm are worthy of at least one cartridge upgrade. Not a really costly one, but something up to maybe $400 or so. Imaging and soundstaging depend on extracting clean HF and LF information from the grooves. The 1012 ...
Calculation of effective mass of JMW10 tonearm?
Kehut nailed it. I haven't used a ZYX on a JMW, but VPI/Mike's suggestion to use both their 3g headshell weight and a lighter c/w mounted further aft sounds right to me. I have this vague recollection that the eff. mass of a JMW-10 is around 11g. ...
I'm Stuck, MMF9 vs. MMF7 vs. Scout vs. Space deck
Matrix,Now that you've learned how to adjust arm height, the obvious question is where to set it. This does not depend on your turntable or tonearm. It depends on your cartridge and on the record being played. Which cartridge did you end up with? ...
Record-playing Rituals?
Um, he's wrong. What he probably meant was, "Any cleaner (that we sell) does the same thing." ;-)It's been several months since I last ordered RRL, but at that time Galen Carol had the best price IIRC. http://www.gcaudio.com
