Raidho D1 audition
Hey this is subjective. If you can't handle that then you're in the wrong forum. And by tonally I meant timbral accuracy, not frequency response, which I find to be one of the worst objective measurement to assess speaker sound. But if freq respon...
Raidho D1 audition
I have a strong music background having trained in classical guitar mostly and regularly attend live performances at very good halls for classical, jazz, big band music. The Raido D1 is the closest thing to the real thing I've heard as long as you...
Bob Carver 180 Mono-blocks perform superbly
Vmhf, thanks for feedback on your tube rolling. I've wanted to try the Golden Lion KT88s, but hesitated because no one has reported about them with he Carvers. Now, I need to save up. How much is a pair of EAT 12AX7s?

BTW, I've had GP in my amps for the past 2 years (had the amps for about 3 years I think). I've had zero problems (no hum, no pops, no tube hiss). Bias setting is stable once set. These amps are the most reliable tube amp I've ever owned, on par w...

Hi Tuan89, I'm glad the GP worked out for you. It's the best affordable upgrade, better than tube rolling I think. The attenuator is the first thing the signal sees when it enters the amp, so a crappy volume pot will degrade the sound from the beg...
Why does Amps/Preamps forum have most threads?
Yea, tubes are cool, the best looking audio part IMHO.
Why does Amps/Preamps forum have most threads?
Thanks for your fine answers. I used to drool over speakers, but as I get older I am growing much fonder of amplifiers. A beautifully built and sounding amp, especially tubed ones, do it for me like no other. May be it's the glow, the warmth, the ...

Audiozen, You have an unhealthy obsession with Bob. Seek professional help. You'll get no more response from me.

Audiozen, you are a broken record. Please stop. Don't you realize that in the end Bob did not have control over the bean counters who wanted to maximize profit? He quit those companies in part because he lost control over his products by the inves...

Mitch4t, you have an awesome system. For the record, Bob Carver was the designer of Bob Carver, LLC. Bob C was not in charge of the financial side of the operation; Bob F was. My understanding is that the decision to sell to Emotiva was made by Bo...

Sorry I couldn't help myself. The guy has one track mind and such hatred for carver products and the man himself. I apologize to the tea party and Sara Palin ;)

Obviously enough people care about Bobs new amp that several threads were initiated here and multiple threads on other forums. And his new amp got product of the year award by TAS. You really need to pipe down. Your are so tea party, Sara Palinisk...
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation
Did you already change the stock volume pot with the Goldpoint stepped attenuator? If you did, I would bypass your preamp and go directly from source to amp. It's an eye opener, or should I say ear opener. A more expensive mod would be to replace ...
Tube Mono-Block Recommendation
Before you spend a lot of money on a new amp, may I suggest a simple mod. Replace the stock volume pot in your Carver amp with Goldpoint stepped attenuator. You will get speed and dynamics that you are looking for and will only cost you $150 for t...

Unfortunately, you have no experience with his new amps, so no credibility calling his new gear junk. As far his old stuff goes, that's your experience. There are forums dedicated to old Carver gear, so there are a lot of satisfied customers out t...
