Is there a minimum length for power cords?
I like short ones. The 3 in my 2-channel system are between 20-24" each. You don't have to worry about them getting in the way ..... and they're cheaper :^ )
Can I play a 192/24 file on my Digilink III?
". I used to have this DAC connected to the Mac Mini using Toslink optical cables. I wonder if that might allow me to bypass the USB on the DAC and input of at least 96/24 from my Mac Mini"That should work.

That particular DAC is going on 8 human yrs old......that's around 20 yrs in DAC yrs...ha ha. USB interfaces on DACs have come a long way since then.
Can I play a 192/24 file on my Digilink III?
The limitation is the USB interface on the DAC which is only capable of 44/16 (actually 48/16 I believe). The USB on the PC isn't the issue as long as Pure Music can pass the higher resolution. By using a USB to SPDIF converter he could go USB fro...

....and I should have added.....or upgrade to the NuWave which has a much better USB implementation and 192/24 as well on every input.
Can I play a 192/24 file on my Digilink III?
If you get a USB to SPDIF converter, like the M2Tech HiFace 2, you can then connect to the digital coax input and at least get 96/24 native and better sound quality overall at any resolution.

I don't think that DAC can play 192/24 files on any input.I think the max native resolution is 96/24, and the USB is limited even further at only 44/16 I believe.

Ethernet Cables
I retired from the IT field myself.....all the way from old school telecom using coax to 10/100 ethernet. I really don't care what I've learned or what should be or shouldn't be. I've always kept an open mind to the unexplainable. There have been ...
Ethernet Cables
I was using a cheap Belkin 25 ft UTP CAT-5 cable to connect my PerfectWave to my router. I then bought a cheap SSTP CAT-7 cable to see if it made any difference. I swapped them back and forth several times and my impression was that the CAT-5 was ...
What Exactly Does "Burn In" do for Electronics?
"Is an audiophiles aural memory infallible? Of course not. Therefore the differences you think you are hearing could easily not be real"If that's the case I guess you could turn it around and say the differences you think you don't hear could easi...

The Power of Assumptions
And this is something new? Sorry, but basically it's one of the same premises that have been used by objectivivsts for decades.
Hi-rez download advice needed
I don't think Airplay supports 24/192 (24/96 max?) and I think iPod's/iPad's are limited even more in what they support. As for your Marantz, what model is it? It should state in the manual max resolution via USB.
