Most Influential American Musician of All Time?
As Aldavis indicated Albert King was inclined to think with an organ that wasn't between his ears. He never used alot of the gear Hendrix used or had any idea of what Jimi was doing in the studio. King sure as hell never put out anything remotely ...
Most Influential American Musician of All Time?
Dunno about all time...but how many rock guitarists (conciously or not) haven't absorbed Jimi Hendrix.Thelonious Monk may not be a household commodity but he added alot of vocabulary and his influence on some of todays great players runs deep.
Best short-lived band?
Good GodDarryl Way's WolfBella BandDunHosemobileTipographicaGentle Giant did some great stuff but they lasted for 10 years and put out 12 albums.
Best sounding LP nobody else has ever heard of...
One that seemed ridiculous (sounded too good to be true) was Budi und Gumbls, Hmmm. (Budi Siebert). Great reeds, (especially bass clarinet) and percussion. One guy I know used it to sell components to people who should have brought their own recor...
Max Roach - You Will Be Missed
Max Roach and Ed Blackwell had a real pesonal quality that very few other drummers are gonna give you. Thanks for recommending Max Is Making Wax and the Brown-Roach discs. I shied away from them for fear of being disappointed by the recording qual...

Best guitar explosion of all time
Fortunately there are dozens of great scorching guitar moments available for hungry consumers. Can't pick a best, but McLaughlin Inner Mounting Flame is *#*&**!!! brilliant. "Purpose of When" from his Devotion record kills too. Sonny Sharrock ...
Most involving and thrilling moviemusic?
There are probably gobs of soundtracks that impart bigger really profound stuff, but i really like Little Green Bag near the beginning of Reservoir Dogs. Also enjoyed the way Vincent Gallo used Yes 'Heart of the Sunrise' in Buffalo 66.
Help with Jazz BeBop
If you don't already know what your friend has in his collection, you might want to get a gift certificate. Squidco has pretty informative write ups on most titles, an excellent inventory and doesn't charge for shipping.
Good Baritone Sax Recording?
Bruce Fowler Entropy has some very well documented Kurt McGettrick baritone work. Really cool charts too, It's a good bet that F.Z. would approve.
JM Reynaud Trente to GMA Callisto or Merlin TSMMe?
About 5 years ago I traded JMR Offrandes for GMA Continuum 1.5 i speakers. Overall I think it was a good move. The Offrandes were a little on the piercing side sometimes, but were really precise. Both speakers continued to get better for several m...
Any Can fans out there?
Count me in. The only bands that sound remotely like them got that way from listening to Can records. Soundtracks through Soon Over Babaluma are my favorites (Rite Time is incredible too and may be the best recorded Can disc). If you haven't heard...
Online shopping for music
YourMusic.com not only had a weak selection. The few titles they offered that were not big sellers and available at Walmart in Podunk Iowa would get pulled from their inventory ALOT. My monthly queue selection was yanked at least 7 times in one ye...
Live Hendrix.....
One fool i know who is a worse Jimi fanatic than me has at least 30 live JH releases that i've checked out. The import of In The West on vinyl stands as the finest sound quality Hendrix so far. It's %$#*!!! unbelievable
Album which you have listened to most?
The three limit is tough... probably would have a different answer in a few minutes: Frank Zappa/ Hot RatsKraan/ Live 1974Eberhard Weber/ The Following Morning
