Is the MSB Technology LINK DAC III worth it ?
I guess it depends on what you're using it for. It was okay for upgrading the signal from my satellite receiver and cheap dvd player. But did nothing for better cd player. I bought one had it for a few weeks and sold it.

Baranyi-I have not listened to sacd's on it. Redbook sounds so good I have no interest in looking at the other formats.

One quick last word on the TRL mod. Over the last few days the bass has really solidified. I don't know if it's actually deeper, but it's tighter & quicker. I'm done! I won't buy another cd player until this thing dies. Then, whatever I buy, w...
CD-player for $1100 - Can I do any better?
I just had my Sony DV-900 modded by TRL and I don't think I could do any better for $5000.Check out the discussion. It's towards the bottom of this thread. http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1132924810&read&3&4&

A couple of things I forgot to mention. It's very quiet. Dead silent background.Tons of detail. At first I didn't think so, because there is NO harshness. Obviously something I've come to associate with detail. Because it's not harsh, I can listen ...

Okay, I've got a little over 200 hours on the TRL modded Sony. Supposedly it's not fully burned in until about 500 hours. So keep in mind, it's still got a ways to go. Also keep in mind, this is all in my room, with my equipment, in my opinion. In...
Decent stereo amp / pre amp on relative budget
I'd also buy used, actually I did buy used. I bought a McCormack DNA .5 amp and a Tube Audio Design-150 pre. Awesome combo and it only cost me $1400 total. For $3500 you can have a very nice set-up.
What is the most important cable?
IC's - Source to pre-amp. If you don't get all of the info right from the start, you won't have it at the end.Power Cable - Amp, like someone else said, it draws the most power and amplifies the most noise. This is exactly what I experienced in my ...
How is Wadia with fast dynamic music ?
Check out a McCormack UDP. All of the McCormack stuff that I've heard is very good for the price. This player may be just what you're looking for.

TRL modded Sony was delivered this morning. I know it needs to burn in for a few hundred hours, but it already sounds a LOT better than it did.

Just spoke to Paul at TRL, they had to wait for some parts, but the Sony will be on it's way back to me today. So I probably won't have it until Monday. I'll let it run for a week or so before I do any critical listening. I'm off of work the follo...

Just got off the phone with Brian at TRL. He wanted to know if it was okay to disconnect the headphone jack. He said it adds "considerable degredation". Rip it out, I say. I asked again about adding a digital in. He knew nothing about it. Said he'...
Audiophiles DO NOT USE DHL-READ MY NIGHTMARE
I had a problem with a Fed Ex delivery. They busted up a pair of speakers. But I received full payment within 2 weeks and they shipped them back to the manufacture, to be repaired, for free. Although they did receive additional damage on the way t...
Rotel RCD 991 or 1072?
Aball-I found just the opposite. To my ears the 1072 lacked dynamics and detail, compared to the Marantz. What CDP do you have?
Rotel RCD 991 or 1072?
I had a Rotel 971(not a 991 but same vintage) and then went to the 1072. The 1072 is much better everywhere. More detail, more extension at both ends, blacker blacks, etc...Having said that. I sold the 1072 and bought a Marantz 8260 for almost the...
