Play Mozart. There is a theory that it increases IQ. They even sell CDs specifically produced for this purpose.
new Eva Cassidy "Somewhere"
Unfortunately "unreleased" material was unreleased for a reason. True for everyone, not just Eva. I hope that someone doesn't buy this CD before hearing her other work.
Tone controls- to use or not?
Atmasphere...Behringer makes many pieces of equipment. For some I agree with you, but in some cases it is sour grapes. But have you heard the DEQ2496? I hear no bad effect of having it in the loop, and it greatly improves the overall sound by comp...
Best way of connecting bare wire to bare wire
With a soldered connection done properly the solder does not make the electrical connection. The wires are twisted or crimped together, thus making the contact, and the solder is added to prevent things coming apart.I was impressed with the Speako...
Best way of connecting bare wire to bare wire
The wire nuts suggested by Riley804 will make an excellent connection. However, you must take care that your audiophile buddies never see what you did. If the secret gets out say that the wire nuts are cryo treated.
Isolating CDP from weak wood floor
Frank_sm...Using a buffer which can be clocked out precisely seems to me to be the obvious right way to implement a digital disc player, but I'm told that they don't work that way. Supposedly the data is converted dirctly from the disc reading, wh...

Atmasphere...The Behringer DEQ2496 does its equalization in a DSP chip, and the EQ function (or any of the other functions) can be bypassed. If that isn't good enough just turn off the power and you get a hard bypass (input connected to output).
Stylus shape and skating force
Use of the Shure test record is the easiest (if you got one) and best way to set both VTF and antiskating. You achieve settings which minimize audible distortion. What more could you want?

Passive vs. active crossover?
To go from single-ended to balanced with passive components would require use of a transformer. Don't waste your time and money.
To bi-wire or not to bi-wire?
Musicnoise...Your statements about lack of HF hearing are correct, but the conclusion, that HF response of an audio system is unimportant is not correct. Hearing tests for frequency response are done using sine waves. I can't hear a 14KHz sine wav...
TAS Recommended CD Tweak….
Newbee...Wana buy an algorithm? :-)
Isolating CDP from weak wood floor
Skipping CD players is something I just can't understand. Mine don't. Even the ones in my cars when I go over the world class pot holes we have in western Mass.

Geoffkait...That isn't clear at all. A read error is a read error whether it is due to scattered light or a scratch on the disk. The error correction algorithm doesn't care.
To bi-wire or not to bi-wire?
Musicnoise...If the woofer and tweeter share a common ground wire back to the amp, then, due to the wire's impedance, each driver will see, at its ground reference, some of the signal intended for the other driver. I don't know how significant thi...
