cable upgrades , real or rip off
Spend your money on the equipment!Spending it on interconnects/PC cord is no a wise choice of investment.Though I do agree that the better interconnects and PC cords DO sound better, they are not the best bang for the buck when one could spend one...
Should manufacturers lease speakers?
I like the "rent A Center" answer... LOL!
Out of curiosity, where does everyone live?
You live in heaven or hell, depending on the current state of your audio anxiety?Or... maybe limbo?..Nirvana?Or in the state of confusion? (worried about what cables to buy?)As for me:I live in a perpetual state of rage over 'too high priced' new ...
Adcom GDA-700 not working
The cost of just buying another one used is about the same as the cost of fixing it.I own a GDA 700 (and a 600 too)
Preamp suggestions for a Forte 4A & CEC TL5100Z?
I own a Forte 4a and currently use an Adcom 750 pre.The best sound I had was with a Counterpoint 2000 tube/ss preamp. It broke a lot but had an exquisite sound.I would buy an Audio Research pre if I wanted to try a tube pre again...

Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
Tice clock.. Yeah... Like millions are in use and EVERYONE knows it is the thing to have?NOT!The Tice clock disappeared. I guess it was a failure. If it really worked... they would still be selling them.
Sand and shot?
I used generic bluetack on my B&W805s stands.I made it super thin by kneading it with my fingers until them bled!1/32 inch thick (any thinner and it 'tears')The sound without, and screwed to base was too 'tight' in the bass and a bit bass shy....
$1 a foot cable: 10awg no-name or 14awg brand?
40 ft says go for the bigger wire, which is the 10awg. would try had to keep it from laying directly on the floor too.
RCA interconnects
true. Be careful not to tighten them too much or you will never get them off!The general rule for locking connectors is to tighten them just to 'snug' (that means they could be a lot tighter, but don't)'Snug' is just so they cannot slip off with a...
