Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
The problem with "a good system" is "What actually makes a system good"And that is different in different folks minds. So I would say the average 'Audiophile' wants a "true to life system" which will just allow whatever is in the recording to come ...
Can a scratched record...
What we really need are some "Record repair and cleaning nanobots".They would be placed at the leadin groove and work along the groove... Cleaning and repairing damage.WOW!!Can't wait.
Mint Condition, Doesn't Anyone Know What It Means
Mint means:I want to sell this now, for a premium price... even though the peanut butter INSIDE makes it hard to use.It also means:I think using the word "MINT" has a certain aura about it... and everyone knows what 'puffery' is anyway...I persona...
Extension cords
Some folks have aquired extension cords at Home Depot and modified them to use as powercords. So search the forums for the posting and get the extension cords. Go for at least 14 ga wires.
Rega P25, would it sound better than my CDP?
"sound better" is a tough call.Remember it will sound different, and have some noise, much higher maintenance.I went 'back' to LP again... and can say if you have a good/cheap plentiful supply of used LPs, then it is worth going to LP.If you have ...

Top loading CD Player clearances
I have 5 inches clearance for my Sony SCD777-Es toploader and that is plenty. At 55lbs it cannot sit safely on the top shelf of the tall shelf system I use, (and I can't safely lift it up there anyway!!!) So it is on the second lowest shelf.
Aural assault?
Lucky for me my job does not allow any personal music at all to be broadcast into the public/staff areas. Earphones only, and no leakage allowed!Wonderful silence!Worst place is Best Buy. Really LOUD, with REALLY LOUD THUMPING from the car stereo ...

Thoughts on Plasma, LCD, DLP and which way to go

Audiophiles... Why Men? Any woman here?
All my friends enjoy music. They all have 'well under $500 total' setups.I am the only female I know personally who goes for the better electronics. The stuff is just all "toys" once you get past a few hundred dollars in electronics. For one friend I...
Is upgrade from Revel M20 to Revel F30 worth it?
I was seriously listening to the M20 and the F30 at a dealer (who no longer carries the line)At the time (pre Revel buyout and move) the M20's soundedabout the same as the F30's but the bass in the F30's was exaggerated. Sort of your choice betwen...
