Should I upgrade my phono linestage first or the tonearm for better results?
And on what turntable is this arm mounted? Thanks

Lp2Cd -- so dismissing everything Ani DiFranco ever did would also cover "Fellow Workers"? Presumably an album that meets your definition of folk - songs from the movement for social justice and labour rights would certainly fit strongly in anyone...
Michell Gyro SE + SME IV upgrade path
Exactly -- the Gyro needs an arm that has the same "swing" -- which is not the SMEs strength. Adding the Orbe upgrades and the HR will help with the stability and blackness you are looking for but you will still be stuck with the coloration in the...
Michell Gyro SE + SME IV upgrade path
Congrats on your nice system and happy to chime in with my suggestions on ways forward. As a prior owner of both the Gyro and the SME IV I’ve been in exactly your position. I actually changed my Gyro for a first generation Orbe and then added the ...

One disc I can highly recommend (and that I've been using as a reference for the past year or so) is "The Elizabethan Session" album produced in 2014. This is a recording of 13 songs from 8 different current UK folk artists all inspired by the tim...
CARTRIDGE WOES?
I guess what responders may be getting at is a mismatch between your arm in particular and the Kleos. Using available resonance calculators the resonance range for the Delos is 7.3-8.4 Hz (the range is a function of the need to make an adjustment ...
How close to rear of speake for a rack?
Not at out at all sure why you are trying to shorten your cables. General view is that an 8-9' length of speaker cable is optimal and also getting your rack out from between the speakers will help with imagingin my setup I use a 25' interconnect f...
ground the outlet or not??
bnut311 -- yes there is if you install an Equi-Tech balanced power system. Read this paper for an explanation -- of course one downside of installing such a system domestically is explaining it to anyone you sell the house to! I know (been there, ...
ground the outlet or not??
Did you check out the specific advice on this topic from Equi-Tech, it’s pretty direct 😀http://www.equitech.com/FAQ/howgr.html
ground the outlet or not??
Agree, keep the grounds but if your EquiTech has GCFI breakers you should consider defeating them. When I had a 10WQ I was continually having to reset the breakers as other household appliances triggered them. For audio needs the GFCI is not reall...
An alternative view on system balance - what to spend where
Nonoise -- great point on the very precise alignment of your speakers. I had always aligned using distance from the rear wall as a reference, but when Ron from Marigo came round to install the footers he brought a laser and set up teh tow in perfe...
An alternative view on system balance - what to spend where
I guess my point is until you've optimized how do you even know what the component sounds like? Without any change to my amps or speakers my system sounds a world different to how it did six months ago.this is the same reason I find shows so unsat...

Slaw - many of us post these details in our system listings so as not to have to repeat them every time, hope you had a chance to check these all out
Best Female Vocalists Ballads
Second the suggestion of Vienna Teng -- be on the lookout for her live CD, "The Moment Always Vanishing", a great recreation of a small concert setting and a disc that rewards whatever improvements you make to your system
John Martyn
Just about everything John recorded is worthwhile and most are available cheaply in original pressings. For me however the stand out is "Live at Leeds" -- probably one of the top 10 live recordings out there, and his stuff is very cleanly recorded...
