Check this out...you might implode.
If portable, that horn subwoofer could be used as a serious weapon-- wouldn't even fit in an 18 wheeler though, and even if it did, would destroy the truck when fired up-- definitely not for Toyota's though. Is that "horn" supposed to have somethi...
"Tweaks" vs. Audiophiles
Hi Jeff; not exactly a sonic tweak, but my heavy Syn, Res. Master Couplers could use some support at the wall end(s), so I screwed a nicely stained 1" X 4" X 5ft. long board to the wall just above three duplex dedicated outlets, and then screwed 3...
Upgade... Amp choices???
Hi Scoly; I can highly recomment the McCormack DNA-0.5. It has great bass and is definitely stable into 4 Ohm loads. It was Stereophile Class B for years. I saw one here on Agon for (I think) $750. yesterday. It's definitely worth tracking one dow...
Terry Evans and the Blues
Thanks for the responses. Lwin, I'll look for Olu Dara-- never heard of him(?). Lorenzo, Luke and the Locomotives is one of the best blues CDs I've ever heard; have Lloyd Jones too; I like some of Rory Block's music, and I'll have to look up early...
Best Pre-amp for Bi-amping?
All Sonic Frontiers Line series pre-amps have four active outputs for biamping or whatever. They sound good too, neutral, accurate rather than tubey. I'm in the process of dong what you are proposing-- hope it works out for both of us. Craig.
Fallow up on syn. from evo..
Evo845; glad to see that you're getting it worked out with Syn. Res. I too made some "not too gracious" comments about them, and have been on the 'phone with Scott Novak about these Agon posts, and some work I need done. It seems Scott is doing "d...
What's your profession? Age?
Retired now, I was a Forest Soil Scientist with the Dept. of Interior for 32 years-- just turned 58, but emotionally and musically am about 15. Big Rig is worth about $40-45K. Cheers. Craig.
Order of importance
Eugkim; there is no meaningful order of importance of components, but obviously you have to start somewhere. You say you like the Thiels, and that's an excellent place to start. Looks to me like you're well on your way to an excellent system. The s...
Sonic Frontier Line 3 SE
Hi Lew4; its early, but I'm interested in this too-- also the Line 2 SE. I just auditioned the Valvos in my Line 2 and did not like them (they're in the SEs), while they are more soft, warm, and tubey, they lacked coherence in my system with a som...
Finally taking the leap to Monoblocks
Hi Argent; I'm in the process of going to McCormack DNA-2 bi-amps. I could have them converted to monos but those buggers put out an incredible 1200 wpc with the channels bridged.BUT, both the DNA-0.5 and DNA-1's can be converted to monos by SMc A...
Levinson upgrades vs factory original
Hi 1439bhr; I purchased an ML 360S that had been upgraded from a 36S. Its been nearly a year and I have no regrets. The only thing different between the two is that the upgrade port is inside the chassis rather than on the back as on a factory 360...
I don,t Understand ????
.......that should be 'you guys', not gus-- geez.
I don,t Understand ????
First off, I've been a happy and loyal customer of Syn. Res. for 4-5 years. I use their mid-priced ICs, cables, and power cords throughout my system with excellent results. In my above posts I was a little hard on what I consider to be an excellen...
I don,t Understand ????
Evo845; I'm glad you started this thread too. And I agree that $1000. still seems a HUGE amount just to cut a cable in half and terminate, but OTOH they did drop the price $1600.-- which is a big improvement. Still, I wouldn't blame you if you dec...
I don,t Understand ????
Evo845; I've run into a similar situation with Syn. Res., and once we buy into their program, they've got us by the cajones. I just asked them to make me a set of ICs with a "Y" on the amp end-- for biamping-- and I would even supply the ICs. But ...
