Why is good, deep bass so difficult? - Myths and their Busters
@erik_squires I haven’t read the articles in your initial post as you state "every audiophile who is dissatisfied with the bass in their room should read these free resources’ and I am not dissatisfied. Give a serious listen to a pair of Golden Ea...
Oppo Vs Esoteric
@boneman73 'Brick Wall' is not the default filter. Mini Phase Fast is. If you have "settled" on brick wall that would be peculiar as that particular filter, unlike the other 6, is primarily a diagnostic use only setting.
Oppo Vs Esoteric
The Oppo UDP-205 is an **absolutely essential** piece of gear in any serious A/V system, regardless of how much better the Esoteric is.My suggestion, buy both, a UDP-205 and whatever else.
Need suggestions please! Electrical noise in my system and it's driving me crazy!
+1 on the drop isolator recommended by @jea48 I don’t have the Jensen, but I do have an Extreme. When I traced a hum to my cable line, the cable company (Cablevision, Long Island) installed an Extreme drop isolator http://www.extreme-broadband.com...
Best rig for "live" music (bootlegs)
@bobdg2000 You're welcome, and thank you. And yes, I do agree that certain soundboards are problematic and less ideal (compared to a good audience) from an overall quality perspective. Usually, in the case of the Grateful Dead, shows that are dist...
Best rig for "live" music (bootlegs)
Nothing different in selecting a rig for audience recordings than for any well recorded music be it studio or live.+1And I only listen to (recorded) live music (SBD, AUD, MTX).http://halr.x10.mx/shows.htmlI've always enjoyed a sweet front-of-board...
2017 ‘Keeper’ speakers under - $25K
How can a cheap $15,000 speaker like the Vandy Quatro Wood CT be #1 ???Something that ...ahem... "inexpensive" do better than speakers which cost 3x or 5x as much?I have a pair of Golden Ear Triton Reference (MSRP $8500/pair). I'm of the opinion...
Need suggestions please! Electrical noise in my system and it's driving me crazy!
The only one that I found to help the DC situation without killing system dynamics is the Emotiva CMX-2 DC Blocker and Line Filter. +1
Is Spiking Necesarry?
@hifiman5 Thank you.
Is Spiking Necesarry?
@hifiman5 Thanks for the follow up. Both placement and my overall assessment have worked out extremely well.http://halr.x10.mx/TritonReference.htmAs it turns out I'm not in any immediate need for the Herbie's Gliders. However, this is still on the...
New discrete R2R Multibit 2 box from CEC
Side note, their web site is horrible. And I mean absolutely horrendous. And I do draw an inference to the product from a web site. And I'm not just speaking of the main link to their home page, I'm speaking of the product page itself http://www.c...
Unequal Speaker Cable Lengths - a solution from Cerious Technologies
Graphene technology in audio cables is also BSAny manufacturer selling audio cables at those prices is BS.
cost of speakers in relation to the rest of the system
"No one pays msrp."Uh oh. I recently paid msrp for a piece of Schiit, a Bluesound, and a Denafrips....Paying MSRP should only apply when purchasing items directly from the manufacturer (i.e. there is no dealer network). In those cases, there is n...
power
Soundstage readily admits that many speakers deviate from linearity at 90 dB and most will deviate significantly at 95 dB. Few if any audiophile speakers that Soundstage have tested can handle 100 dB.Assuming the opportunity presents itself, I loo...
Correct way to attach speaker wires... Wait, what!!!
I use bare wire when connecting to the speaker binding post. For those who mention oxidation, while true, it occurs ever so slightly and over such a long period of time that it is of no practical concern. Even so, every 18 months or so I'm incline...
