Everything else being equal, should I expect better Spotify quality through wifi or USB?
Bluesound is excellent. /customer service is top notch, too.I bought my Node's used, and Bluesound gives fast support when I had a problem with my players.I bought an Ayre Codex to serve as DAC, the Node's are just for networking. The 2 make a grea...
Dealers hijacking the discussions
@ctsooner Why not see if Ayre can mod the integrated to split the amp and pre? I recall you saying they modded it to eliminate the M5-HP.I think it was Paul McGowen- PS Audio, who said he believes a preamp is still necessary-after many years belie...
Dealers hijacking the discussions
@ctsooner,Sorry about the Georgia jibe, but you have to admit it was a good game. And, as far as preamps go, wouldn't an Ayre be a good match for the Vandy amp?@tomic601 Though I wouldn't disparage anyone for buying a 6 figure car, I find it sad th...
Old or new gear
I would look at Atma-Sphere amps. They are built very well and give excellent sound. A used S-60 or M-60 should be in your budget. I would call Ralph at Atma-Sphere, he sometimes has demos and units for sale at a significant discount (that's how I...
Schiit Modi Multibit vs. Adcom GDA 700
The Modi would be a better investment as Schiit usually offers upgrades, usually at reasonable costs. The Modi is also much more current than the Adcom, I believe, and since the tech is moving quickly in DAC's, it would make sense to get the more ...
MCCORMACK UDP-1 help
I would call either Conrad Johnson (they bought McCormack), or Steve McCormack as SMc Audio.B
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale?
I got the Treo's after the 3a sigs. I do have a pair of the 2wq subs, so I am Quatro territory. If space is an object, then a pair of Treo's will definitely fit better in a small room, like mine. You can always get subs as funds provide (though I h...
The ups and downs of tube vs. SS...
After years of hearing this debate, I ended up getting a pair of Atma Sphere MA-1's and I have to say they are the finest amps I have ever owned. As Ralph pointed out, they do get hot, and in summer can challenge the AC system. So, I also bought a p...

MQA•Foolish New Algorithm? Vote!
If I recall correctly, the MQA provided by Tidal is only a 'partial' decoding. You have to buy into whole MQA system in order to get the full 'benefit'.Hence, my post equating it with Dolby.B
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale?
I heard the Vandies after I got out of college in '79. They were so impressive that I still remembered them 40 years later, when I finally got back into hifi.B
Ayre V5-Xe or Jeff Rowland 201 Mono Blocks?
I vote for Ayre. Zero feedback is a beautiful thing. They also pair well with Thiel.B
Everything else being equal, should I expect better Spotify quality through wifi or USB?
Though I have no technical knowledge, I have found USB to be the weakest link for music-like you say jitter and clock issues.Ethernet, for me gives the best results, with WIFI (and having a strong signal) a close second.B
MQA•Foolish New Algorithm? Vote!
No, I think it is another 'Dolby'-type of format. It might sound better to some, but it seems more of a signal alteration than anything else.B
Vandersteen 2CE Signature II: Is it worth the price of $2700? Why are so many for sale?
The Vandy 2's have been around since the '80's, with the CE Sig.II the current iteration. That they have been selling for so long should give you a hint about their capabilities, as well as why there are so many for sale. And, used 2ce Sig II's go f...
