I think you should be more careful in amp selection. I see from specs of the Ethos the following:Sensitivity92 dB/2.83 volts/meterImpedanceNominal: 4 ohms, 0.8 ohms @ 20 kHz Crossover Frequency375 Hz0.8 ohm !! Argh that is low. And 90 ish dB is ok...
What amps should I audition?
@elizabeth  thanks for the response. Since I could not find any measurements I thought you might have insight and you did.now that I see the review with measurements this is a non issue for me at least thanks
What amps should I audition?
I found some measurements for Bryston 14B3 :). They are quite amazing for a Class AB amp putting out 900 Watts @ 4ohm: http://hifilounge.co.uk/image/attachments/Bryston/Bryston%2014B%20Cubed%20Review.pdfNot sure what to make of this. Anyone care t...
What amps should I audition?
@elizabeth something I noticed is that designers like Parasound, Coda and few others shield the toroidal transformer but Bryston continues not to. Any implications of that?.
What amps should I audition?
@elizabeth very interesting what Bryston Cubed specs(high level, page 4) indicate. I wish there are proper measurements published by someone for one of the cubed series amp.
F7 ?speakers
@bakalovb did you mean 6 feet tall, 10 inch wide and 2 feet deep maximum dimensions per speaker?.
F7 ?speakers
You are better off buying a speaker you like for the $s and look for an amp if F7 does not work.
Clear difference between Harbeth 30.2 & Super HL5 Plus?
This may not help but I have heard 30.1 and SHL5+ in two different rooms. They both are quite different. SHL5+ has more range and you can hear it especially at the lower end of the spectrum. Everything sounds a bit larger with SHL5+, more towards ...
What amps should I audition?
It bogles my mind when amps reach $20k putting out mere 300 watts @ 4 Ohm or sometimes even less. I am beginning to wonder if high end amps are like the magical cables that cost multiple $k.What is the engineering innovation does a $20k amp demand...
What amps should I audition?
@cakyol that would mean buying Class A solid state amp used can be a problem?.
What amps should I audition?
@tomic601 I do not think a single microphone will cut it. A true binaural recording of good quality can only capture the room, speakers and the rest of the chain in a good dynamic range. And the listener has to use headphones (good ones I presume)...
My exp. with Focal Sopra No.2 , Harbeth 40.2, Passlabs XA30.5 and Hypex NC400
@tonediary have to listened to speakers powered by Hypex NC500?.

What amps should I audition?
I am in a similar process as the OP but unfortunately my budget process is to be literally as cheap as possible.  My speakers will be Legacy Aeris which has the bass section powered by Class D amps. I have gathered one integrated Class A SET amp L...
Help me choose a speaker match for my Line Magnetic 805ia tube amp under $10K
Consider a speaker that has the bass section already powered. Then your tube amp should be sufficient for the midrange and above as long as that section is efficient. It is not a great idea to buy a speaker for the LM. There are tube amps close the...
