Speaker jumpers and hook up choices Question
Geph - good...maybe I'm not delusional. I just went back to the AQ arrangement. The differences (assuming I'm not imagining things) are pretty subtle and seem most noticeable in the first seconds of listening. It's an easy enough switch to make so...
Speaker jumpers and hook up choices Question
FWIW - I had been using the AudioQuest diagonal configuration Geph0007 describes above. After reading through the posts on the related bi-wire survey thread that MoFi started (this includes a link to the Nordost single wire for bi-wireable speaker...
Jitterbugs from Audioquest and the Regen
Gents - Sent mine back to Music Direct today. After a bit more than a month of almost nightly use as described above, when I pulled it out, I could hear no difference. Glad for those it's helping, just figured I could use the $50 bucks for somethi...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Whart - Thanks. Might well send you and an email. re Bdp - Very much agree with your assessment of (his?) music knowledge. Might not always like the tone! or agree with a given position but good insights for sure and points worth considering. Loom...
Do you Bi-Wire, if you can?
I used to bi-wire but doubt I could really hear a difference. Just did it because the speakers were set up for it and the speaker cable I used at the time allowed it. With current sp. cable (Morrow SP4 or Clear Day double shotgun) I single wire an...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Whart - I will happily take any advice you care to pass on. Good reminder about EC w/Delaney & Bonnie. I do buy vinyl but must say I'm not a serious collector...just not educated enough on what's original vs 2nd pressing etc. etc. I do prefer ...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Whart - Agree with you whole heartedly. The music categories get blurry and the boundaries leak (bleed into one another). 60s/70s were a fantastic period for music. I definitely appreciate the influence Britain has had on our "American" music.
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
I'll take the "blame" for Bdp thinking someone said Cream was a prog band - though that's not what I said. Certainly, they were not one of the "art rock" bands (defining art rock as a sub-genre of Prog Rock) like I would consider ELP, Genesis, Kin...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Hey Loomis - it's good getting a well articulated and reasoned point of view that differs from mine. I don't mind mulling over the new perspective...might be some educational parts to it...might simply confirm me in my present position. I'd way ra...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Bdp - to remain cordial, we'll have to agree to disagree on a number of your points, I suppose. Not sure I find the verdict of your "we" about Blue Cheer compelling reason to change my own. Although the 2 songs you mention are probably the ONLY th...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Loomis, Bdp - Ah...OK, understand the context. Well, as they say, "there's no accounting for taste." I came of age late 60s/70s...lived through and survived them and (perhaps surprisingly) recall quite a bit from those years. Was a fan of Prog bef...
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Hey Loomis - Why was Yes very uncool? Have never before heard that directed at them. Guessing that was something you associated with all of prog rock?
Best Option In A Silver CD/SACD Player $1k Or Less
No way I can tell you this is a "BEST OPTION" silver SACD, however a TEAC Distinction Series CD-1000 is available for well under $1000 new right now (see Amazon Prime). Sound quality and build are excellent. It is built like a tank and looks great...
Keith Richards Interview
Hmmm...sounds interesting but I got a message "iPlayer TV programmes only available in the UK" (or words to that effect) when I clicked on the link. Being US-based, could not watch.
