If you could only keep 5 record albums, what would they be?
Was going to mention that no one has mentioned the whole collection of Roy Orbison. @Fayetteville just did. What a set of pipes that guy had. If just one album, "a night in black and white" would be it. His back ups are Springsteen, Elvis Costello...

@jhills.....+1 here.Your whole list is check, check, double check. Are we all the same age on this forum? I'm on board with 90% of all music listed and that could grow as I audition more. I'm a "boomer" and feel that I have been so fortunate to ha...
I like my system flat, no tone controls, no eq..........what is your preference, and why.
@n80, +1And this is what they call diversity. I'm glad we don't all have the same systems, same rooms, same ears, same tastes. It would be boring. I've tried flat and I've tried curves. The purist in me says go flat. But for my sonic appreciation ...

@bdp24, you are a music encyclopedia!!! I have heard and like maybe 75% of the albums listed, but your "6 pack" is this weekend's homework assignment. Can't wait.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally,  I love having the ability to adjust sound to fit my mood. My Mac has a 5 band EQ that I adjust as required. True, the sound that day in that studio was recorded as such to suit that engineer sitt...

I have to say, it is like asking "who's your favorite child?"I am past the half century mark so there's so much great music tied to so many great experiences. All of the above albums have me saying "ya, that one". The five best for me are the mood...

N80, you're right. Whatever floats your boat, is right. It's all subjective cause no two ears are the same. (After processing of course)  It's just so fun and interesting to hear, read, and listen to what other folks find so intriguing about other...

Mr D, you've been helpful with some of your previous posts. I have vintage gear and have had ADS floor standing speakers since 1983. Figured I'd never change out. But, I finally bought LaScala II's, with no audition. I've wanted them for over 50 y...
What improvements did you hear in going from entry level to high end Audio?
Noromance; I really like your definitions and your journey course. That defines for me the essence of the music. I just had a 4 hour listening session with my wife and our favorite red wine. We marvel at all the nuances of our private concerts in ...
Should I recap my speakers? If so who can do it?
Just read this thread and I gotta say it's really cool that grannyring and timlub chimed in to help the OP out. It's a testament to the the "brotherhood" of those that are so well versed and experienced to help out a fellow audio appreciator in ne...
Vandersteen 3A Sigs vs Klipsch Forte III
Phil, very interesting. I just saw a LaScalla II review, albeit by someone who sells them, and he commented that the II is much improved over previous. They are beasts and take a room that can accommodate. At least the top tweet and mid are remova...

MrD, crack me up. I would say it's never about me.....my wife would disagree !!  All good, banter is good and I'm picking up the morsels and digesting. Oblgny, thanks for checking on 3a's. Thot they were still making em. That's a good thing. Wonde...
