| Salk Speakers - Opinions & Advice? I was a bit disppointed by D1's sound. However, I attribute it more to the (mediocre?) Jolida amp and cd player. To my ear, my system sounds better (Tyler Linbrook SS, BAT vk-200, vk30, Arcam CD23). My room (about 25x30) is about 4 times as big as... | |
| Can a broken leg from a tube be soldered and used? There is no leg left on the damaged tube to make any contact to the socket.Someone told me that the broken legs may not need any connnection to the circuit. So I just go ahead and plug the power. Only one tube biased (a green line comes for each t... | |
| Can a broken leg from a tube be soldered and used? Dgarretson, do you mean that 6C33C-B tubes do not need to be matched?Lewm, how much did you pay for? Over $100 per piece, right? The tube tubes will be used with my vk60.I guess new sets of 4x6C33C-B and 8x6SN7 from BAT would cost me at least $600,... | |
| Can a broken leg from a tube be soldered and used? The tube is not that expensive. About $50~70. If bought from Russia or Eastern Europe, $60 for 4 set and $25 for shipping. What I will do is to find some tubes with long legs (at least 50% longer then 6C33C tube legs) and remove them from the tube.... | |
| Can a broken leg from a tube be soldered and used? Doh! What was I thinking! | |

| Biamping with BAT vk200 and vk60? Many thanks.I see that the vk60's gain is also 26dB. I will try it anyway with new power tube sets and see what happens. | |
| Biamping with BAT vk200 and vk60? Sure, thanks.I won't try it until I get a response from BAT. | |
| Tube failure -- what would happen in worst case? I guess, this shows what would happen?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KOjn9ii2Jg&feature=related | |
| woofer pumping If you still have the problem after all tips you have followed, try to distance your turntable as much from the speaker and see if it helps. | |
| Tube failure -- what would happen in worst case? I guess I was lazy and ignorant. I assumed that a new tube amp was factory biased and I should not fiddle with it, and also I did not want to damage my amp by screwing up. Now I feel like I need to know more about biasing. | |
| Tube failure -- what would happen in worst case? Thanks for all.I did not bother to bias my tube amp, and I am selling one (Chinese made) and get an amp with auto bias feature (BAT vk60).Any way, is this a good reference for biasing?http://www.aikenamps.com/Biasing.htmlAny of you have other source? | |
| Biamping with BAT vk200 and vk60? No take yet?vk30 has two main oututs -- XLR and RCA. May I use both of them at the same time? I am thinking of connecting XLRs to vk60 and RCAs to vk200. And let vk60 drive the tweeter and vk200 drive the woofer/midrange.Would it be OK, or would i... | |
