How old is too old for a Dac?
I’d say by the time you're 90 you’re too old for a DAC.
All Things Must Pass
I have not heard any of the latest vinyl for All Things as I began phasing out my vinyl and went digital in the 80’s, but I clearly can recall the vinyl pressing I had back in the day as just plain awful - certainly by comparison to the remastered...

No, not really..Robinson is my real name and it was just the first play on my name that came into my head, actually. Nosnibor sounded vaguely Russian to me, and my first name is John, so Ivan it became.

@toddverrone I’m fairly aware of the pitfalls of numerology and that, in this case, a minute could’ve been ordered certainly in a number of ways (but of course it wasn’t, antiquity settled on one, certainly), but I’m not at this point privy to the...

It seems whenever on those occasions I happen to find myself trying to examine some ancient historical context, what comes back at me time and again is just how much the ancients may indeed have been aware of (on their own I mean, without the help...
Is it too bright or is it high resolution?
Over the decades, I’ve come to be of the opinion in general that detail is not really at all related to brightness - except in systems plagued with either electrical noise or (as previously noted by others here) certain types of distortions, or bo...

Will do, for sure. You will likely have the Tri-Wave before I, so it might be a case of you posting for my sake first, lol.
Do I need a power conditioner?
Agreed, I believe Alan Maher has some legit products for the health end of the market, too (for those who are EMI/RFI sensitive), but is finding it hopelessly full of snake oil and will have to be pulling out of that soon.
Do I need a power conditioner?
@leotis,I’d like to caution you about circuit amperage, unused circuits in your circuit breaker box and the act of turning off lots of appliances when you listen (longterm). Be aware that a properly designed circuit leg from the breaker box will h...
Do I need a power conditioner?
Hi leotis, dedicated lines cannot reduce any noise in themselves, but they can gain you a little physical distance between your system and the rest of the noise in the home and that should help at least some, sometimes noticeably. There is Always ...
Recording quality...
@wlutke, thanks for the kind words!@folkfreak, "There is more musical information available in the vast majority of recordings, of whatever vintage, than most of us are able to access."It seems it may take each of us a certain amount of time on ou...
Recording quality...
mikeydee, I would say that if you're struggling to confine yourself to the last 5 years worth of recordings alone, then you are definitely doing something wrong. I think maybe you have possibly built the wrong kind of system for your tastes in rep...

Hi TJB, no I haven’t gotten around yet to trying his Magnetics filters just yet, although that will happen at some point down the road this year, I think. I have a number of his Q-strings power cables (which are great), but will need 3 more pc’s b...

tjbhuler, I’m sure you’ll have plenty of fun with the stuff you’ve just ordered! The platforms will gobsmack you...maybe especially if you have digital as I do. It’s true about the adjustment time period for his stuff. Some of his things take no m...

Hi mac, first off, I’d have to say that quite literally it would be an impossibility of physics that any power solution (no matter what it was or who made it) could be so sufficient that no further electrical noise reduction would be audible...tha...
