Why should we think of "what microphones heard " as a standard
@inna I don’t want to hijack your thread really, but I honestly think you may be looking at the problem the wrong way.Although I agree with bdp24’s post above, And that we, as you say, we only need good enough ears, I don’t think of this as a mic ...
Speakers for.....every type of music?
Welcome! As far as listening to ALL kinds of music goes (that's me really, btw), how satisfied you might be in the long run may come down to how far out of your way, so to speak, you're willing to go and how far your willing to take things...that ...
A certain online retailer asked me for a review of Pangea power cords..
I say in my above post that a cord that can filter itself out is ’something of a holy grail’ simply because if you can design a cord that filters out "ALL noise" (however you define that) downstream and all of it upstream, then all that will remai...
A certain online retailer asked me for a review of Pangea power cords..
No it doesn’t take $15k to fix digital. I have $600 ones that do a great job of that (although they are different in that they have passive digital filtering built in them), but, in the nose-bleed territory, as I understand it, it can come down to...

@jhills, Digital interference is broadcast both through the air and will also leak bidirectionally from the source, upstream and down.
Cannot find perfect sound
@myc67  Welcome! That was a reasoned post.
“Oppomod” linear power supply
@ptss I did indeed have nearly $8k’s worth of a power treatment and grounding solution (Alan Maher Designs) at the time the OPPO MOD was added to my 103...have added even more since. The 103 is not well ventilated but I’ve had no issues with heat ...
“Oppomod” linear power supply
I had that mod done to my 103 - astounding difference...air, life, ease, extension, clarity in spades.
What do you LIKE BEST about your current audio system?
What I may like most is my setup’s ability to unwrap the sheer **musical performance** in a compelling, live, 3D way. Emotionally, intellectually and physically engaging. That and that from top to bottom and across the board, it now lacks for Nothi...
Upgraditis?
No longer know what that is anymore. Discovered Alan Maher Designs some years ago (power treatment solutions). At first I went along with it because I could tell after trying it that it was apparently a great way to enhance the sq of my setup...he...
Duleland break in time
I tried Duelund interconnects. At first they were...well...underwhelming to me. I decided to let them break in for about a month just to be sure. At first it was a little discouraging because the character didn't change at all for the first 2 week...
Cannot find perfect sound
You could be on the right track with this reasoning, but I warn you, this kind of dissatisfaction is what led me to break down and design my own speakers around active crossovers, because I knew I could never really find what I wanted in existing ...
Insider or Outsider? To be or not to be,...?
Ahhh...and so it begins: what once was free you now have to pay. They could've just opted to give us most the new 'perks' for free.Great move for Audiogon, they'd like to own the casino...they have a constant revenue stream, set the rules of behav...
Neutral or Detailed. You can't have both
I always thought of "natural" as a broader more inclusive term. But, I've seen "neutrality" defined as both the "coloration/timbre" thing and also as the "bright/dark" or "warm/cool" thing. Maybe we do just have to sorta be more careful about what...
Neutral or Detailed. You can't have both
Ok, I cheated. I use neutral amps/pre with speakers which I built from scratch. But more importantly the amps allowed me go with active crossovers for these 3-ways, so I was able to 'dial out' crossover related roughness and nonlinearities and nat...
