Cardas vs NBS?
Thet depends on your equipment. The Cardas is a warmer cord, the NBS is extremely revealing (on the bright side). If your equipment is good enough the NBS might be great, otherwise I'd go with the Cardas.
How would you rate your listening room?
Albert, I think if your going to build a room for audio and video, you might want to look at the future directions you may go. If six channel is of any intrest to you, and SACD or DVDa live up to there potential, it may be only two or three years ...
Isolation vs. Absorbtion
I would second the last two posts. I believe it's very helpful to have the makers of products relavent to the discusion to include themselves in the thread. It only will raise the level of knowledge for all of us, but I do want to know if the pers...

Must -have SACD's
I just received Mike Oldfield "Tubular bells", very fun. I think this music was composed by Mike 30 years to soon, clearly SACD on a Hi-fi system is what he had in mind.I also picked up Monks' "straight no chaser" very clean, low tape noise, great...
Hydra or R.Gray 1200 S or PS-600 ??
Rademaker, I'm not aware of anyone whos tried all three to date. The folks who have ordered the Hydra haven't gotten them in long enough to pass judgement (I think) I would talk to Stuart at A Sanctuary of Sound, the guy is honest and helpfull, se...
Best and Worst customer service?
BMI and Dunlavy, best. Wow these are class, Brian called me one day and we chatted. He clearly didn't need to take his Sunday afternoon for me. The guy is great and I concider him a friend. John Dunlavy spent half an hour on the phone with me on a...
New SACD Players Announced

cable length
I agree with Elizabeth, get the very best you can afford. I would also suggest keep the speaker cables as short as you can get by with. Power cords, again they are by the foot cost, so that must be concidered. If you agree with that power cords ca...

Solid state power amps.; on or off?
Yea Craig, if you ever have a chance to pick up a Proton, they are ausume. Best piture tube made (Hattachi). I got mine at a close out dealer for 70% off and it was still over $1000, but that was the first and only issue I've had. Now it just need...
A Tombstone in the Living room????
O.K. Joe, I'll bite. You state,"Using their unique understanding of resonance and how it effects all components, including loudspeakers, made logical sense to me. They stated that permitting resonance to form on equipment then immediately directin...
Blind Listening Tests?
Sorry Detlof, humor is not allowed on any Audiogon thread. I've now led you down the wrong path. I've got a -3,-1 for my humor and only a +2,+2 for what I thought was a good discription of blind testing. Oh well, rather the meek have the chance to...
Solid state power amps.; on or off?
I leave my amp on all the time. A side story to illistrate the issue is with my Proton T.V. It's about 13 years old now and is used by our whole family, this means it goes on and off many times a day. Each time it's turned on the solder and electr...
Blind Listening Tests?
Hey Detlof, can I tell my wife you recommended I invite a few women over each week-end? Is there an age I should look for? J.D.
